Publish for the federated model

Dear all,

Please help me
How to publish the federated model in BIM360

I have the Interior Design (ID) Model was linked to Architectural model
And we used the Arch model for background (include Arch + ID). When we publish to BIM360, just display with Arch, ID does not appear.

Thanks

I think you will need to change the linked models to attachments rather than overlays in manage links and then they should show up in the published view.

You need to do the following.

If you are using BIM360 Design ensure the linked models are also initiated as cloud models.

If you are only dragging and dropping BIM360 files but have the others also linked in on your local machine use the upload linked files button on BIM360 docs.

We have ensured the following:

  1. Each model is Cloud Workshared (models incl Arch, Structure, HVAC, Plumbing etc)
  2. Inside HVAC Model (in Revit), we have linked Structure & Architecture model (which are both cloud workshared). Path Type shows Cloud

However when I go to the browser (in Document Management), open the same HVAC Model, we don't see the Structure & Architecture model.

We have BIM 360 Docs users (who ofcourse don't need Design Collab as they are not Revit model editors), they face this issue.

Can you throw some light?

These files are originallly central models and should never be opened outside of revit and the design route.

Ensure that your design files are locked and permission only given to design users. Non design users can mess up the entire flow.

Non Revit users are not opening the file for any edits.

They are opening for model viewing on BIM 360 Docs.

Are they opening each discipline model? Try to Create a package in design Collab and look at the shared folder file. Check that and see.

Have you setup specific views in 'Publish Settings' to be published? Do those views show the Arch/Struc models in Revit?

Are you publishing from 'Manage Cloud Models'?

Thank you everyone. We figured that there was someone who wasn't live linking the Cloud workshared model. Once it was corrected, we got all the linked models to be visible with the main file, in the Docs as well as Design Collab views.

In the Design Collab, we can switch on and off the linked models for viewing the specific files.

However we don't see any way to be able to do that in Docs. We want to be able to see one specific main model and make other models transparent (with some opacity) to get the context. Could you help on this?

Have you tried setting up a placeholder model and I’m that model have your specific 3D views. All with each discipline models transparency changed. Then publish the model. Does this show up on docs and the 3D models should be visible under each 3D view.

Design collab features will eventually transfer to Docs.

The only way I found was to publish the navisworks federated model in the bim 360 docs. There isn't other way to do that. Almos I haven't find it.

Unfortunately, this thread is a classic example of how messy and fragmented BIM 360 is for design. Different licensing, different features in different modules, and barely usable features for Docs users.

It's why I created the following Idea for a consolidated design environment.

It's time to consolidate Docs + Design Collaboration + Model Coordination - Autodesk Community
