Public file sharing

I've been trying out the new public file sharing feature which is great. It works well when sharing folders or indivudal files, however when I want to share multiple files (but not the whole folder), it generates a link for each file. This means the end user has to click each link indivudually to download files which is not ideal.

Is it possible to send a group of files with a single link without creating a separate folder for them? Similar to funcionality on WeTransfer. The only workaround that I can see is to create indivual folders for each issue, which will result in duplicating files and isn't best practice.

Hi @ChrisOsborne3 - Thanks for posting to the BIM 360 Support forum.  I'm glad to see you are trying out the new feature!

If you are just sharing individual files, the person you are sharing with will need to click individual links to download the file.

If you'd like to see an improvement to this new feature, I encourage you to post to our BIM 360 Ideas forum.  This way other customers can also comment and Vote Up the improvement.

If this answers your post, please consider Accepting the Solution so that other members can find the answer as well.

Thanks for the reply @patrick.beattie . It's a bit disappointing that this funcionality isn't part of the feature as we share individual files every day. This is available on other document hosting systems so I'm surprised that it's not possible here.

Unfortunately this means we'll have to keep sharing files via email/WeTransfer which is far from ideal.

Hi, how i can share documents for external user who don't have a BIM Account? With the BIM 360 update I activate the public share  configuration, but when i sent the link to other person, the link require a log in and a password to acces the document.

Hi, I've also been checking out this new feature. I'm having trouble figuring out why I can't share a public link from any content from my "Plans" section, only from "Project Files". I'm able to share content from project files all day without issue but anything in the plans section is not even giving me the option to select "Share with public", is that a limitation?

Thanks for this update Autodesk. We have been forced to treat our "one true source" as just a highly collaborative file repository that still required alternate file sharing options to people not licensed for BIM 360. This is a great step forward.

@Anonymous  You have to make sure that you've clicked 'Share with Project Members' at the top and change it to 'Share with Public' in the dropbown.

Hi Matthew,

The sharing documents feature is indeed limited only to Project Files currently. Having that feature available on Sheets is on our list. I don't have time for that but am happy to get your input or feedback.
