Notification control

With BIM 360 Field, there was a way to disable notifications for subcontractors' emails. While this was nice, it would be better if we could limit the notifications to once a day preferably so the emails don't become overload and then ignored.

With BIM 360 Insight suite: (Document management, field management, model management), it seems as if this option was removed completely.

Please advise on how one would adjust their issue notifications.

Hi @matthew.finkley ,

A way in which to modify your notifications is a capability we are working on for Field Management and the BIM 360 platform.

Kind regards,

Shirin

Has there been any update to this notifications issue within BIM 360 Insight?

This is an important topic.  By default, subs are getting an email for each issue created as well as an email every time an issue status is changed which can add up to 20, 30, 40 emails a day.  Would love to get some attention on this even if the response is to change a certain setting.  This is one of the top issues with our teams using BIM360 Field.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thank you for your insight.

We have a solution currently in development which will reduce the notification traffic your users are receiving.

Thanks

Shirin

Please provide update on the status of this solution. We now have teams utilizing other software and tracking forms because of the inability to limit/change the amount of email notifications the subcontractors and project managers are receiving.

Hey Matthew,
We have identified several scenarios of sending unneeded emails at the same time in both Issues and Submittals modules. Some of them already fixed (for example, a problem we had related to sending 3 emails on Issues creation).
1. We are working on tailor-made solutions for those scenarios.
2. We are working on adding a Project-Admin/User notifications preference so you could replace the immediate emails with Hourly/Daily digests.

I'll update you once we will have an available solution to share.

Best,

Niv Saar

The entire project team now seem to be getting notifications for all uploads/download/publishes etc which is being seen as 'junk' by most. Is this the result of an application change and if so, how can we limit or disable this please.

Thanks,

Chris.

@chris.edwardsR3BJR

Hey Chris, to which module are the notifications related (Issues, PJM, Design Collaboration, Document Management, etc)?

Hi Niv, the notifications I received yesterday related to Package distributions as delivered into the Document Management folders via the Design Collaboration module. I guess this means a bit of everything...

Today however I'm now receiving notifications from an older BIM 360 Teams project. This is 'usefully' informing me that the .dat files are changing! If I get a notification like this every time there is an incremental change to the model then I will loose the will to carry on...

Thanks Chris.

I've shared this issue with the Design Collaboration team. They are working on a solution for reducing the number of emails which are related to Package distributions. I'll update you once it will be available.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

All,

Where has this landed? I was asked about having a centralized (to be honest any form of) notification control for BIM 360 Document Management>Issues, BIM 360 Project Management>RFIs and >Submittals, and BIM 360 Field Management>Issues. In an active project the amount of notifications is overwhelming to an inbox.

Just looking for a timeline (what quarter of what year) on when a solution will be available (even if beta for EBA customer who request it)

Thanks in advanced

Hey Uchenna,

We are currently working on several solutions for reducing the number of emails and adding Admin and User notifications preferences. I'll be happy to share the beta with you once it will be ready.

Niv

Niv,

I would love to test the Beta. Please send my way when it's ready. I have a Sandbox project I can try it out. Let me know what you need from me to be able to use.

Thanks,

Uchenna

We too have a Sandbox and would like to test something out. The onslaught of email is a real problem and needs to be resolved a.s.a.p.

The volume of notifications has certainly dropped. Thanks for the heads up.

Is there an update on this? I see that there is a beta out but is this something that will be coming out sooner than later? I have had clients who have asked about this issue and who are concerned about the large volume of emails resulting in things falling through the cracks from people eventually ignoring/missing important emails. A once a day issue summary for those who are assigned to/watch issues would make sense.

Hey Jackson,

Can you please elaborate, how many emails users receive each day? and from which services (Issues, Submittals, RFIs, etc)

Thanks,

Niv
