I have Autodesk Construction Cloud and need to give someone with a BIM Collaborate Pro license access to my model on ACC.

I am in no way a BIM Expert and have recently set up my small office on Autodesk Construction Cloud. I am thinking Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, and BIM Collaborate Pro are all the same thing, but I am just so confused. It took me days to set up the ACC account and develop a project to begin sharing and assigning roles.

I am past sharing it with colleagues in the office and am now trying to share it with consultants, but I got an email today saying that it appears I am using Autodesk Build, and since they only have access to BIM Collaborate Pro they are unable to collaborate with us using the program and had to purchase a 30day trial. I am unsure how to set up the project so they can collaborate with us without having to purchase ACC if that is even possible. Is there any way to resolve this issue? (Pictures/screenshots will help me greatly)

Thank you,

Hi @_sba ,

Welcome to the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). Let's start with what ACC and BIM 360 are.

Autodesk Construction Cloud is the unified cloud solution which has evolved from Plan and BIM 360. BIM 360 is the classic version which is working in tandem with ACC. You can no longer purchase a license for BIM 360 but when you purchase a license for the ACC you can still access BIM 360. So if you have Autodesk Docs you can use BIM 360 Docs as an example. See the below table for more information about other products.

So this means if you have an existing project in BIM 360, and are created in BIM 360, or you are given access to the project in BIM 360. You can use your license to access the projects with your license to such specific services. ie. if you have Autodesk BIM Collaborate you can access Autodesk Docs + Design collaboration and model coordination but are not able to workshare Revit model unless you use BIM Collaborate Pro.

When you add any member you can assign which services they have access to. If a specific service has been turned on for that member they will have access (ie Autodesk Build). See the below image showing the project admin members shows the services to turn on or off for each member.

If you turn on a service to which that member does not have access they will need to start a 30 trial or purchase a license. I would go back and check that the external consultant has the relevant services turned on. They will need Autodesk Docs and BIM Collaborate depending on which part you need Design Collaboration (collaborating with multiple parties) and Model Coordination (clash detection). So each member should be able to select and access the correct services from the product selector. As shown on screen.

Hopefully the above makes sense, if you need anything further please do ask.
