Hello,

I work in an external fabrication software and need to download source files from BIM 360 in order to use them as reference when modeling in the other software. I have noticed when I download a source file, it also downloads all the linked models as well. The problem I am seeing, is that the linked models do not always have the date of the the actual 'Last updated' model that is also on BIM 360. Do I need to download all the source files and delete the links that come with them in order to have all the most recent 'Last updated' versions of all the different models for the project?

Is there a way to update all the links in a source file to read all the new 'Last updated' models on the BIM 360 server?

Is there a way to not download all the Links in a source file so that I can just download all the most recent source files?

Thank you

Hi Dear ,

1st of all the updated model should be published to BIM 360. Then you can download the files .

and if you don not want a likned files . please unload th links in the model and then publish the model to BIM 360.

In this way i hope your problem will be fiexd .

I'm sorry, I must not have worded my question clearly enough. I am working in a collaborative project and these are not my models that I am downloading from BIM 360. I would like to be able to download a source file detached as well as un-linked to all the other models on BIM 360 to begin with.

I have run into this same concern. We are working on a project where we are using live-linking of models on BIM 360. Let's say there are 5 Revit Projects that are all interlinked to each other and we want to share all 5 of them with a 3rd party by making them available for download. It appears if they download Model #1 all the other linked projects (Model #2, Model #3,  etc...) are all downloaded at the same time because they were linked into Model #1 - but it appears that all these models come in at whatever version they were last reloaded into Model #1 - not necessarily their latest published version on BIM 360.

I can see the value of having all the linked models download together so that you don't have to reestablish those links. At the same time this leads to the 3rd party having an outdated Model #2, #3 etc... so this could lead to big problems if not managed well. This was not expected behavior from the software so I'm wondering what the recommended workflow would be for sharing a set of live-linked models to ensure that the latest  models are the only ones visible to the 3rd party. I'm thinking it might be to make an independent copy of each model into a new folder to share out of.

Okay I found an article that breaks this down. It would have taken a long time to figure all this out through trial and error and is not very intuitive.

I think anyone with download access to a Revit file should understand these mechanics because it can lead to some real versioning issues outside of BIM 360 if not managed correctly. Especially for outside parties being hosted on the platform.
