Do People need a BIM 360 Design License to use Docs online?

Can users added to the BIM 360 Project Hub access the Document Management module and all its features without a BIM 360 license?

I know you need a license/subscription to use Revit cloud worksharing and edit the model.

Is the same true for those who only need to look at the website and use the features like model viewer and Issue mark up and tracking?

Everyone that is added as a member will need at least a docs licence.

You can share files with non project members - https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/bim-360/getting-started/caas/simplecontent/content/creating-p...

In that case what is a docs license called for subscriptions?

Below is a screenshot where I have one subscription for BIM 360 Design that includes multiple services.

BIM 360 team and Revit Cloud Worksharing are the items that would be relevant for cloud model editing.

Is a docs license part of either of these items or something else?

If you can point me to a breakdown of license types and how docs fits into subscriptions that would help me out.

Docs is the core base module, you cannot have any of the subsequent modules without docs.

Hi @Anonymous

Jonathan Hand (@múinteoir) is exactly right in his explanation. But let me just make sure you understand a couple of things.

  1. Anyone who needs to review or markup the model on the BIM 360 Docs hosted Project will need a license of BIM 360 Docs minimum.
  2. BIM 360 Design licenses include BIM 360 Docs.
  3. BIM 360 Design is a BYOS (Bring your own subscription) but BIM 360 Docs license is not a BYOS.
  4. This means a user added to a project can use their company assigned BIM 360 Design license to work on a Cloud Workshared project from Revit side as well as review and markup the models from the browser side (BIM 360 Docs). They will not be a liability to the company hosting the BIM 360 project.
  5. The company hosting the project will have to provide the license to all the licenses to Non-Revit users who need to access the model for markup and review from BIM 360 Docs.
  6. BIM 360 Docs licenses are not assigned, like other Autodesk products. As soon as a user is added to a BIM 360 Project, if they do not have a BIM 360 Design license assigned to them, they start using the BIM 360 Docs license from the company hosting the project, even if they haven't accepted the invite yet.

I hope this clarifies any confusion.

Cheers

Deepak

Just re-visiting this licensing issue...

Where can I see how many BIM 360 Docs licenses remain?

And do the recently released Autodesk Construction Cloud products change this level of access (to BIM 360 Docs)?

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous, on your Account Admin > Analytics page, you can get an idea of users by various services on your account, as shown below.
