Completely Remove User from Account

I am not exactly sure where this needs to be posted and I couldn't find much info in other spots (including help from the support case I have open).  So I am turning to the smart people on here for some help!

Does anyone know if there is a way to completely remove a user from the Autodesk Account Management page?  Looking for something more than just hitting this button (image below).  I would prefer complete removal.  I was told that the user has to fill out a form.  I would prefer to not have the user interface with that sort of thing though as it states that the account owner is the only one who may request deletion.

I have a user who I think activated his account outside our company umbrella and when I delete/recreate his account it automatically holds on to data.  For example, no matter what first/last name I type in it reverts back to some old data that the Autodesk site is holder onto.  It is also creating a weird username for him that shows up as his username in Revit and C4R/BIM 360/BIM 360 Design.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I am the product manager for Autodesk Account.  Unfortunately when you remove a user from Account, it is only removing the user from that specific list that you manage.  It is not removing the users identity entirely from all of our systems from where it might be connected.  Is that what you are trying to do?  I think so, but want to make sure...

Essentially, yes.  The user currently has an account created by me so that he could access B360T via C4R.  However, when i initially created the user, it pre-filled in certain parts of data that it shouldn't have.  That tells me the user tied to that email address had previously been created and is in your system.  I would like to know the process of removing that user completely and re-creating from scratch.  Is there down time associated with it?  things like that.

Out of curiosity, why does the system save such data?  I am a little concerned that Autodesk holds onto that without an easy way to wipe it out.  I could see a potential problem where someone uses an email address to create an account and my firm wouldn't really know about it.

I think this explains some of the weirdness we have seen a couple times in the past.  Random usernames showing up in our account and a new employee's account automatically assigned to that of a former employee.

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

This is because the Autodesk ID is owned and controlled by the end user.  What this means is that you can remove association and access of this user to your  company entitlements and data but only the user can request delete of the ID itself.   This user may have changed his email address on his profile and is continuing to use the identity now for other purposes.  I like the idea of a company controlled identity and will pass this feedback to our identity team.

Wow, that just blew my mind.  I would have never thought in a million years that an ID created by a company, using a company owned email address for a user working with software and entitlements owned by said company would somehow own the Username and ID provided to them.  I can't even think of a reason why a user that I am required to create under our contract (for C4R, B360, Cloud Rendering, etc.) would have any ownership over that account.  It is interesting.  Thank you for that information.

I do have some follow up questions.  What is the controlling item during user creation that is unique and owner by the user?  It is the email address or is it some hidden unique identifier?  My gut tells me it is the email address based on what I have seen happen in the past in regards to user data being automatically created when the email address from a former employee is used.

Is there a place, like the idea forum, where I can provide feedback on stuff like this?  There are some things about user management for a company our size that is less than ideal.

Thank you for the response.

I will share this feedback within Autodesk as there is not currently an idea board specific to identity.  The fields that are personally managed can be viewed entirely by logging in to accounts.autodesk.com.  Mainly they are first name, last name, user name, password, linked social accounts, etc... Email address must be unique across Autodesk's universe of email addresses.

We are working on an LDAP solution which federates control and authentication of the identity to the company corporate directory but it is not yet generally available.  I would be happy to discuss it with you further in an offline conversation.

Kathy, thank you for the reply.  I would happily chat with you or anyone at Autodesk about what we are seeing and the challenges we run into.  Also, we are almost always game for testing new software and processes.

Thanks again.

6 years have passed: any update?
Or do we just need to sign in as every individual ex-employee and start account deletions manually?
