BIM 360 folder view with custom attributes

Hello,

I've added custom attributes in a BIM 360 Docs folder, and when i tried to change the order of columns in the folder view, some of the attributes are listed below the default pop up window that shows up when i click the gear icon for setting. The attribute that I added shows up when i scroll down but it wont let me drag the bottom most attribute to the higher position. 

I can start dragging it, but it wont let me put it back in to one of the higher positions again. 

I usually let go of many little bugs that I see in BIM 360 docs but  This little bug really annoys me and prevents me from setting the folder view in a format that i need to show for my use.

If you hover to the left of your attribute name you'll see some dots show up with a grip cursor that lets you move the attribute in the order you want it.

Thank you for taking the time in replying to my post.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my original post.

I've attached a screen capture to better describe the situation.

This almost looks like one of those joke programs that prevents people from doing something fundamental that the app is designed for.

I too am suffering the same problem. Also attributes like RFI recheck themselves after i uncheck them.

I did once manage to get my attributes in the order that I needed them but BIM decided it liked them another way once i went back in.

Hi. Don't know if it will work for you but I tried creating & arranging my attributes using Edge browser rather than Chrome and it worked.

This has bugged me for months; it's the software is not grabbing the custom attribute and grabs an adjacent ootb one... then won't let it go! Annoying...

It's true, if you try the same setup in Edge, it works. But Edge I hear is not recommended for using BIM 360, all the engagements and SCO's I've had wiht ADSK recommend Chrome. The custom attribute order is user-specific anyway, so the order you fix on your machine won't show on another's machine (although the custom attribute will, just at the bottom - unless they fix the order manually themselves).

The issue I still have is that I can do this OK in Edge, then when I go back to Chrome the changes aren't made in that browser. 

Seem like an annoying bug that could be easily fixed?

Hi. After discussing this with Autodesk the problem was that the browser cookie cache needed cleaning out. Soon as I cleared them out it worked perfectly in Chrome.

Hi Anthony - that's good to know, thanks for checking back on this! I got to work eventually in Chrome, by dragging other ootb attributes "under" my new custom one, so eventually my custom one popped up to where I needed it.

Tip - set your custom attribute order on the highest folder level (Project Files/Plans) in order to have consistency on all sub-folders 🙂

I was having this issue a few weeks back. (If you're within 100 miles of Wales you may have heard me cursing.)

This way worked for me on 5 different BIM 360 project spaces

• Create your custom attributes
• Pick Restore Default order
• THEN drag your custom attributes into position. They seem to stay there

Yes! That worked for me also this morning. Good to know others are sharing the pain! 😄
