Is it possible to upload linked Revit files in Autodesk Docs?

There is an option to upload linked Revit files in BIM 360 (see below) but it appears the same option doesnt appear in Autodesk Docs?

In Autodesk Docs, now what must be done as in BIM 360, is to host all the models and specialties in the ACC and then in Revit through Manage Link and the Desktop Connector application, link the rvt, dwg or ifc files that are in the cloud. Then when updating and changing the version of these files, you must reload the linked files to see the changes in the model. When working with Design Collaboration, it applies in the same way and there we link the files consumed from the other specialties.

Can you show some screenshots to how this would work?
There doesnt seem to be the option to upload "linked" revit files in Autodesk Docs? Maybe a few images/examples would help...

I tried Jorella's method above and it worked for linking the files in the cloud through Revit. But, when I open the viewer in Autodesk Docs it still does not show the linked file.

For example, I linked Arch-Cloud.rvt into Struct-Cloud.rvt within Revit but when I click on Struct-Cloud.rvt in Autodesk Docs I only get the structural components displaying.  How do I get the linked file to display?

I found out that you need to additionally PUBLISH the files to docs through the Collaborate tab > Manage Cloud Models tool. Then you can see the linked files in the Docs viewer.

BUT if you switch to using the Desktop Connector for Autodesk Docs it doesn't work and you can't publish the file. The tool is grayed out.

What do you do?

Hi everyone

Revit models must be cloud workshared to be visible as linked files in Docs viewer.

Follow these steps. It worked for me

LINKED FILE (NON WORKSHARED MODEL)

OPEN THE LINKED FILE > COLLABORATE > COLLABORATE IN BIM 360 DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT > BROWSER PATH > INITIATE

MASTER FILE (NON WORKSHARED MODEL)

OPEN THE MASTER FILE > COLLABORATE > COLLABORATE IN BIM 360 DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT > BROWSER PATH > INITIATE

MANAGE LINK > ADD/RELOAD FROM > NAVIGATE TO EXTERNAL RESOURCES (CLOUD SYMBOL) > SELECT PROJECT > NAVIGATE TO FOLDER > SELECT LINKED FILE

COLLABORATE> MANAGE CLOUD MODELS > PUBBLISH LATEST

NOTE: IF FILES IN EXTERNAL RESOURCES ARE MISSING WHEN SELECTING LINKED FILE CHECK THIS OUT

It works when you have Collaborate Pro license. For those, who has only Autodesk Docs, it doesn't work, because collaboration through the cloud is not available for them (

It does work with Docs. Ive tried it and @a.alessi explanation is correct.

I was using Revit 2022 - Open up your files and go to  File->Save as -> Cloud Model.

Once all the projects models are saved in the cloud/ autodesk docs you can open up the models and go to "manage links" and adjust the location of the linked models so they are linked to the ones on autodesk docs.

Just to confirm, is it possible to view linked models in Autodesk Docs when you don't have Cloud Worksharing?

I tried following the suggestion on this thread but couldn't view any linked models.

The setup was the following:

  1. For each link (the Architectural, Structural and MEP model), I opened the file in Revit 2022 and saved the model to the cloud (File > Save As > Cloud Model).
  2. Then on the Coordination Model, I linked these models via (Manage Links > Autodesk Desktop Connector). I then also saved the Coordination Model as a Cloud Model.
  3. To make sure I wasn't missing anything, I also published this model to the cloud (Collaborate > Manage Cloud Models > Publish).
  4. I waited for the model to be published, then opened Autodesk Docs in Google Chrome, opened the Coordination Model, and the model was empty. No visible (model) linked file.

What did I miss?

Appreciate your help. Thanks.

So, I was able to make it work following the process that I described before. When I first posted, for some reason, it wasn't working. Perhapes because the Federated Model file was just an empty model acting as a container for the links, and that was preventing ACC from processing the links correctly. I then tried linking the Structural and MEP models to the Architectural model and the links became visible.

Thanks to everyone on this thread.

Hi,

Is there no more easy way in ACC Docs.

In BIM 360 it was very easy to upload two linked Revit files?

I have 30 students and I doubt they will get it.

Hi,

You DO NO NEED Bim collaborate PRO. If the parent model is SAVED AS CLOUD MODEL, and the links are saved AS CLOUD MODELS, then you can link them as EXTERNAL RESOURCES, and they will be visible in the ACC WEB VIEWER.

Hi @jvilara  @everyone

To save as cloud model, don't you need  access to Revit cloud work-sharing, for which you need to  have Collaborate pro?
