Still wrapping head around BIM360 'Software'

I am still trying to understand all things BIM360.

So there is C4R (Revit 2017.4 down?) and Next Gen BIM360 Design (Revit above 2017.4?). can you verify Revit versions please.

... and also BIM350 Glue, Docs, Field, Teams etc. essentially, separate silos of project info. With separate packages you cannot have projects that span between, say Glue and Docs.

So, final question, shall we say 'the goal of my post', ... if someone requests 'I need BIM360 installed on my computer' What is it that they might mean, and what questions should be asked from IT as to what is wanted?

hi @mdhutchinson

  • BIM 360 Teams (classic) for Revit versions up to and including Revit 2018.3
  • BIM 360 Docs (next-gen) for Revit versions 2018.3+
  • Revit Cloud Worksharing and C4r are the same, it was just rebranded with the introduction of BIM 360 Docs.
  • Glue and Docs can certainly be used on the same project. The only two services that can't be used together on a single project is BIM 360 teams and BIM 360 docs as they are two different hosting platforms.

if someone states " I Need BIM 360 installed on my computer"

  • This would primarily be Revit (various versions) but could also be Civil3D or Navisworks.
  • Desktop Connector (adds BIM 360 Docs/teams as a network drive to your computer)
  • Possibly Glue Classic Desktop.
