Review Bim 360 Docs

Hi alls,

I want to use the Review tools in BIM 360 doc's but can't find the wrigh way to use it.

We are the owner and our internal team review the drawing from the consultants and make comments and markups. So when we setup the approuval workflow, The initiator is our internal Project manager and the approuver is our internal designer. The revision is finish and our consultant do not have access to the revision.

Before lunching that process, I have found a way to download the sheet including the markups in PDF format. Our objective was to download that PDF and attach it to an issue assign to a consultant to correct his drawings.

The option to download the sheet is not available in the review.

How do a share the review with the consultant?

Thanks for the help.

Hi @Anonymous,

We plan to expose the functionality of "export pdf document with markups" from the BIM viewer in the approval workflow.

Could you please confirm whether the functionality can satisfy your requirement? If not, any other information you prefer to embedded to the exported pdf documents?

Thanks and best regards,

If I understand it right, I think it is a great idea.

If we can activate that PDF export like we can activate the functionality to copy the approoved document to a folder that would be great.

The initiator as to have access to the PDF with the markups of the person that has done the review.

The objective is to have a project manager that send the review to an external company to do a third party review of the drawings made by our consultant. After that review, he need the PDF with the markups to attach this document to an issue send to our consultant for them to fix the drawings.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Could you please confirm whether the following understanding is correct?

After a review is completed, some or all PDF documents with markups will be automatically attached to the new created issue that is assigned to the original uploader (consultant)?

  1. Who is able to decide which PDF documents need to export? Project Admin or initiator?
  2. Which PDF documents will be exported? All PDF documents? All rejected PDF documents?
  3. How does the system to decide the assignee of the new created issue? By using the PDF document's uploader?

Thanks and best regards,

In my case the answer would be :

  1. Who is able to decide which PDF documents need to export? Project Admin or initiator?
    1. Initiator
  2. Which PDF documents will be exported? All PDF documents? All rejected PDF documents?
    1. All PDF
  3. How does the system to decide the assignee of the new created issue? By using the PDF document's uploader?
    1. Document uploader would work but we would prefer to have the freedom to assign it to the any person. Most on the time the uploader is a technician and we would want to assign it to the project manager of the consultant office.

This would work for my situation but different situation can happens. More freedom you give us, better we can use the system.

Hi, I'm Marco,

I need to modify a review after created it. Some our consultants sometimes wrong to write something like name of review, or create one new and he forget a document to be uploaded in the review. Is it possible to modify the review after creation? is it possible to delete a review closed?

Thank you

Best regards

Hi @ghezzi.mar,

Could you please click on the “BIM 360 IdeaStation” link on the BIM 360 community home page. This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

  • Is it possible to modify the review after creation?

No, so far you cannot add more documents to an existing review.

  • Is it possible to delete a review closed?

No. You can use filter to only view Open reviews.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi, I have a problem. When do I create approval workflow. I choose Two Step group Approval. 1 step 4 reviewer. 2 step final reviewer. can I, when running Submit for review, exclude 2 reviewers from step 1 so that they do not see this review process, or is it impossible and everyone who is in the approval workflow will see the review?  Thank you
