Hi Anil,

Thanks for the message! I thought that I'd replied, but it can't have worked.

I am still having an issue with the measuring tool on Document Management in the BIM 360 app. It's not that I don't know how to use the tool. It's that the tool is not there / has disappeared.

Within the BIM 360 Docs App, the measuring tool is there. However, there is another problem here, as all of the layers of the dwg file uploaded are displayed within the layout, i.e. the layers that are specifically turned off in the layout in AutoCAD are now turned on in the BIM 360 Docs App.

I have also noticed in the BIM 360 App that the markup tool does not allow polylines to be drawn (only freehand lines, which can tend to look messy) like on the desktop  version. I'm sure this was also possible with the BIM 360 Docs App previously.

With the problems with the layers (as mentioned) and the fact that the the Docs App appears to have been deleted as an Android App, I am left frustrated by a tool not working properly.

Also, it seems to take a very long time to open a downloaded sheet in the BIM 360 App, in order to work off-line. In fact, it didn't even open at all each time I tried. This is an extremely important feature needed by our colleagues when working on site.

Please could you find out about these various issues and when they might be addressed and fixed. I am beginning to lose a bit of confidence in what should be a great tool and I really don't wish to start looking at alternative options.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

The measuring tool and polylines in markup tool are both coming soon for BIM 360 iOS and Android apps.

Regarding the time it takes for a sheet to open in the application, this is something we are working to improve.

Best Regards,

Anat

Hi Mike,

I'm happy to share that the Calibrate and Measurement tools are now available in both BIM 360 iOS and Android applications. In addition, we integrated new markups tools: Highlighter, Oval, Polyline and Polycloud into both applications.

You can go ahead and try it out! 🙂

Hi Anat,

Sorry for the delayed reply! That's great, regarding the measuring and markup tools!

Do you know if the BIM 360 App will also include information regarding the layers and objects on AutoCAD in the future like it is currently for the desktop version? For example, when you select a room hatch, the area (m2) could be shown as well as the layer it is on. Also, it would be really useful to be able to control (i.e. turn on and off) layers, to allow extra clarity for stakeholders, whilst on site.

Thanks again and kind regards,

Mike
