How can I leave a BIM360 project?

A few months ago a client added me to their project to help troubleshoot an issue in one of their models. They forgot to remove me after, and today I was testing a new feature in Revit 2019.2 and uploaded my test model into theirs before I notice it. I already deleted the model but I would like to remove myself from that project and site altogether. How do I do that? is my only option to email the admin? Please add this option if it's not available.

I found something weird when leaving a project: all Issues with my name changed to "user". this could be a huge problem in the future if no one creates a coordination report. maybe Autodesk should think about that too before letting people leave or asking the admin to remove them from a project.

It should not take an Admin to remove yourself from a project.

No that doesn't work of course. It's oversight in the design that needs to be fixed.

Maybe it is by design and the decision has been made to err on the side of caution. I tend to disagree that it's an oversight but rather a limitation, one or the other. Maybe admins should be tracking this and taking appropriate actions instead of leaving it to the users.

It's been over 4 years since you responded to this question. Autodesk is about the only reason I have to use email filters to delete project SPAM. Will users ever get to remove themselves from projects or at least get reporting options for email???

Imagine being an admin of a company with thousands of users and collaborators. It really becomes fun.

Why would someone create a situation where a single person is in charge of all that? The solution is to have multiple admins to manage the personnel assigned to projects. Maybe the same person that invites people to the project should also remove them when appropriate.

Users should be able to leave a project or a hub they no longer need to be in.

This is a simple request and not a complicated issue at all.

Maybe Autodesk should add a mechanism for users to contact the admin to request the removal, if that is needed.

When you consider that leaving a project on your own could be the same as walking out of a job, you might see why it is a bad idea. It should be a management decision implemented by management.

Having a job you can't walk away from sounds like a much worse idea, historically speaking.. If I am blocking all communications from a project on my end because Autodesk won't allow me to leave the project, how is that any better for these god-like admins?

Agree with Basam.  For all the "types" of users in the BIM360 system, Autodesk should be able to EASILY make a person a "Restricted Admin" and as a Restricted Admin, you should be able to "Admin" your own account and only your account.  So every user in BIM360 has Admin Removal rights only for their account.

This is the same as been said countless times.  BIM360 should not be, "The Hotel California"

Now you want to discuss why companies do the things they do?  If so, we're going to be here for a long time.  There is no reason for it, but it happens.  Again, my company is 120K people, there are at least 2000 users in BIM360, and the number of Admins is 2.

I can't explain it, I can't change it, but regardless, I should have control over my own account.

The reason you’re still members is because the project admins aren’t doing their jobs.

I’m not a project admin but if I were, I’d consider it part of my job to track members. Similar to what most companies do when someone leaves a project, Take away their access.

I don’t get involved with the number of projects that are getting thrown around but if I did, I’d be sure to track contacts and ask to be removed if it wasn’t done in a timely manner.

But, hey, that’s just me.
