Greyed Out Transform Button i

Hello,

I'm having the same issue as the post made on 09/01/2021, "Transform button greyed out in BIM 360 Model Coordination." For the solution it says to make these changes in Design Collaboration, but we do not use Design Collaboration, only Model Coordination. Is there another way to fix this issue?

May I please have a screenshot showing what documents are stored in the Coordination area you are using? Both from Document Management and Model Coordination module.

It would be easier to investigate if there are any models that might be causing this issue.

I sent out a support ticket and was told the easiest fix would be to create a new coordination space that doesn't point to a shared or consumed folder. With that, we ended up deleting the "Design Collaboration" folder we didn't use and the transform button became available.

Last week I encountered the same problem with the Transform button being greyed out.

But in my case, Design Collaboration is being used with some models, but for the file that I needed to transform it wasn't in Design Collaboration and instead was manually uploaded into the Shared folder.

I find that when you can use the Transform button is far too restrictive. It assumes a very narrow use case, which is unlikely to be used on the majority of files. It's those other minority of files stored in other folders which require transformation.

I'm having to deal with this again, and again with models that are in the Shared folder.

I understand the justification of not giving the ability to manipulate anything that has been formally Shared via DC. But this is a royal PITA if the model author won't correctly coordinate it in the first instance. So what ends up happening is I have to push out an NWC file and manually upload this into the Shared folder, resulting in a worse situation than if I had the ability to Transform a Shared Revit model. It's a workaround, not a solution.

Having said that, I completely agree that this should first be done in the authored model, and if not, then Transforming the model in the WIP folder. This way the transform copies along with the model into the Shared folder when shared via DC.

But, until the model author performs that DC Share, I am all out of luck with what's in the Shared folder. If I could permanently fix it in the WIP folder, and temporarily fix it in the Shared folder, then this would work for me so that I can keep working on coordination.

Just a quick update to my above post.

I have noticed that a model that is Transformed in the WIP (because that's where Autodesk says it needs to be done), and then copied into the Shared folder, all future file versions can now be copied straight into the Shared folder. It would appear the model in the Shared folder retains its transform for future versions. Yay!

So in this case, why can't we just transform in the Shared folder in the first place? 🤷‍🤔
