Clearing Up Seat Assignments

A couple questions:

-Can anyone clear up the issue with seats in the New BIM 360 Platform?

-How are Seats consumed?

-Is the subscription to BIM 360 as a whole? or just the modules that you subscribe to?

So I have a subscription to Doc's only and get invited to someone's project who is using the Model Collaboration Module am I consuming one of their Design seats? 

Please help me wrap my head around this issue. 

Lastly, If you are invited to a project and don't have a subscription to any of them, do you consume a seat as long as your email is associated to that account? or only during the time that you are logged in?

Hi Matthew,

In general, BIM 360 is sold in packages that include different service modules. In your example mentioned below, the user with a "Docs" subscription would only be able to activate Document Management as a service on their BIM 360 Account, and would not have the ability to activate Model Coordination.

If a user is invited to a Model Coordination project on a different BIM 360 Account, then they will consume a seat on that account (regardless if they are logged in or not).

BIM 360 Design (Revit Cloud Worksharing), works a little differently, but I would reach out to your reseller to understand how your specific subscription works.

I am a re-seller and we have had a lot of questions about seats, I know they you guys changed a lot of the format for how seats works when you rolled out BIM 360 Next Gen. i.e. bring your own seat. 

Its my understanding that Doc's is the foundation for all the services,

So to be clear you are saying If I get invited to someone else' project and they have a different subscription set which includes some or all of the other modules. my Doc's subscription is irrelevant to their project and I will consume one of their seats. 

Also to be clear, if I have 10 Seats on my subscription, a manager no longer needs to formally assign Seats like they would with Revit or AutoCad, just invite members to the account and each member consumes a seat. not until the members are de-activated or removed from the Account will they free up their seat.
