Cant select object on published sheet view

Cant seem to work it out.

I have published models from Revit including sheets. Some models when reviewing the sheets I can click on objects such as doors and see properties. But on some models I can't. Also, there is a distinct visual difference between models that seem to work, and those that don't. Its like the correct models are vector, and the non-working models are jpegs when zoomed in.

They are published in the same way so not sure what's going on, and it always worked in the past but seen this with a few different models now in a few different projects. Same versions of Revit. Its all sheets within a model, not specific ones. And its not project related as some models within a project work, some don't.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

I'm still getting the same issues. To add though, it doesn't seem to be model specific, but view/sheet specific.

I have a model where a sheet is perfectly fine, but another sheet suffers from this jpeg issue. It's like its published/processed in a Jpeg format, rather than a pdf for example?

Does nobody else experience this issue?

Thanks

This topic should be in the Revit Architecture forum for more focused responses.

This is most likely due to those "problem" sheets being printed in raster format due to the contents of the view. Revit should be telling you that it is doing this.

Thanks for a reply, but this isn't to do with Revit Architecture per say. The issue I'm experiencing is within BIM360. Not to do with the printing of sheets. It's the view of sheets within BIM360 when a model has been published. Yes we are publishing the model from Revit, but there isn't any options regarding Raster/Vector when publishing. I'm obviously aware of those options when printing.

Sorry, my bad.

Do those sheets happen to print to PDF in raster format?

Hi @RSomppi, it does appear if I take one example, that particular sheet does print in raster, even though its set to vector. So, my hunch is (as I think yours is), and from what I heard in one of the factory videos, is that Revit/bim360 is actually printing a PDF of the sheet, and its that PDF that is served up in the bim360 viewer (the regular users just would never know). Its likely therefore using the same print settings leading to the issue, which there is no way to control. Therefore this is a bit of a bug or flaw in the way that sheets are being processed really.

Thanks

You can call it what you want but this newbie figured it out based on expected Revit behavior.

Just to complete this topic.

Autodesk sort of confirmed that sheets which would be printed in raster when creating a PDF, would also process to B360 as a raster view. This would then mean no objects are selectable.

I highlighted this wasn't very good as having unselectable things is not the intended workflow of B360 is it.

I also pointed out that this isn't documented anywhere. I was referred to this article about vector/raster processing by @bartek.kulig. Can you confirm when this article will be updated as promised to include B360? Thanks

Further to this, a new knowledge article has been released here clarifying the issue:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/bim-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/2D-she...

Whilst its good that there is some documentation regarding this, I don't agree with this default behaviour. This it not intuitive enough. Users don't link 'print settings' with publishing to Bim360. Indeed, within Revit there is a 'Publish Settings' dialogue box to manage the sheets/views etc and no link or explanation in there about print settings. This is the obvious place that BIM360 publish settings such as vector processing, should be set.
