BIM360-ClashCoordination-How to select the Coordination view?

When looking at the clash detection, it seems like it is pulling the default view "{3D}" from each model to do the clash detection.

Is this the only option? The "{3D}" view is often used by users to do pretty much regular work, I'd like to select another more specific view for my clash coordination like "N-BIM360-AXO-Coordination".

I could not find instructions on how to do this. Is it possible ord does it only accept "{3D}" as the only clash coordination view?

You will need to setup views and then publish those views for coordination.

I've published 3D views to BIM 360.

My problem is that I don't see an option to choose which 3D view is used for the clash detection.

It seems to only select the "{3D}" view, which is not an ideal workflow since people treat that view as their own.

Model coordination will pull any 3D views that are published to the folder that you have designated as the coordination space. The views that you see are what is being published from Revit. If you're only seeing the default 3D views I would say additional 3D views may not be setup to be published in your publish settings inside of Revit. 

Now, you can setup views inside of model coordination so that you can view only the clashes for lets say "Level 1" or "Level 2". If you go into Model Coordination in Docs, click on the "Clashes" tab and then "Active" there should be a dropdown menu that allows you to select a view if you have some created. If you change this dropdown to "Select a View", all of the models that are currently in the coordination space will be shown and clash results given.

So the proper views have been set up to be published to BIM 360 and they shows up in Document Management.

The other thing is that I'm looking to change the view that is used on the generic menus. Not looking to do a super specific "Compared level 1 or MECH to level 1 on ARCH". I want to control the view that is used to clash detect the whole model as seen here and in the image above.

Is this just not part of the UI or did I miss something?

It appears that Coordinate is picking up your Revit model rather than your published views. This could be for a couple of reasons:

1 - You haven't published your views (In Revit - Collaborate Tab > Manage Cloud Models > Project Name > Publish Latest)

2 - You are publishing your views but they aren't landing in the folder on BIM 360 that is setup as a coordination space. 

I'd recommend double checking your coordination space and making sure that your published views are landing in that folder.

1-I've published the views, else they would not show up in BIM 360. I know how to do this.

2-I've made my clash folder my "Project Files" folder be my "Coordination Space". They are one and the same.

I don't think you've actually addressed my question. A model has possibly thousands of published 3d views, how do we specify which published view its used for coordination? If you can show me where it's done, I'll do it or know that there is a bug. There seems to be no mention of this in the documentation.

I'm tempted to think that it is not possible and  that B360 simply uses the "{3d}" view, which is not a good workflow.

You specify what published views are used for next gen coordination by establishing a coordination space and putting the published views you want to coordinate in that folder. You control what views are published from Revit through publish settings.

We use it every day, it is most definitely possible.

When we publish a model, multiple 3D views can be exported. It's not crazy to publish 500+ 3d views.

When we deal with files in BIM 360  we don't move a single 3d view, we move a file with all associated 3d views. So my question is: How can I select which of the 500 3d views is to be used by the interface shows above as the default 3d view for clashes.

As mentioned, the model coordination space is the exact same folder as "Document Management>Project Files" to keep things extremely simple.

I typed my method below before reading your full post on what works for me, but after reading your comment I think BIM 360 is just refusing your 3D views because you've basically setup the parent folder "Project Files" as your coordination space (I don't believe this is how you should do it), Model Coordination could just be refusing to show them. You should be selecting a folder, be it the "Shared" or a "Coordination/Clash" folder and setup a coordination space within that for clash detection.

I have never exported the default {3D} view when publishing, so try this method below and it should help:

Each of the model files that are within the "ClashZone' coordination space you have created is exporting {3D} as their default published 3D view. (It doesn't have to be published with this view) You need to go to publish settings in Revit, choose the 3D views you want to include for clash detection.. NOTE: (BIM 360) uses clash detection by clashing view against view. Each model needs to have the same 3D View Section Box for the clashes you would like to perform, E.g. If it's focused on Building 1, each model needs a section box on Building 1 and you will need to publish that 3D View which focuses on Building 1 in the Publish Settings under <Manage> in Revit for each model. (Call the 3D views something like:

Building 1 _Structure

Building 1_Architecture)

etc.

Option 2 is to create a federated model and save it to it's own BIM 360 folder under project files so that it can have its own coordination space with all Revit links linked into this blank model. You can then create a 3D view for each discipline, so you only need to publish 1 model for when doing clash detection, plus this gives you the ability to setup the 3D views as required, instead of relying on other consultants to create 3D views and publishing.

To take it a step further, if doing option 1, you can disable clashes for certain views in the settings option under model coordination.

But I much prefer option 2 because it's much  cleaner only being able to see the 3D Clash views I have published to BIM 360, due to it being in it's own unique coordination space.

P.S. It can take quite some time for these new views to pop up in model coordination. It wasn't instant once I republished.. Took hours.
