BIM 360 Design - Does viewer need license to access/navigate the published model

Dear all,

I have question regarding 360 bim design, does viewer need license to access/navigate the published model? , and if yes what is the best way to share the models with other party if they don't have licenses ?

I used to share the model in bim 360 team before and invite viewer without license with Revit 2017 but now am not sure how to do that. your help is appreciated.

Hi Mohammad, 

Yes, a subscription is needed to access BIM 360 Design, there is no way to grant free viewing access. This is a known requirement (see the Idea station for example) and something we consider for our roadmap. Right now as of now, i can't tell how and when this will be addressed, however don't expect it short term.

For currently practical sharing workflows, others with more experience from the field might be able to chime in.

Yes he answered, but to be hones the new tool failed to meet the requirements such as the viewer and removing the communicator from revit. i really don't know why these changes the idea of the tool is to build collaboration environment !! and after these changes we need workaround solution or work on them and make changes available again (viewer access and communicator). Thank you

Totally agree. Its ridiculous that they pushed out a new version that has half the functionality of the original and twice the encumbrances. I sold people on 360 based on what it USED to be able to do, now I'm starting to regret that.

Hello. Is this still the case? I invited my private emailadress to the project and it seems that I am able to se "Design Collboration" and "Project Model" without license....

You can share everything in the model with including all Parametric Values by exporting to DWFs. Just export all your sheets and a 3D View and have your 3rd party download check out all that embedding INFORMATION using. Both are FREE.
