Autodesk DOCS - Work Offline mode

Hello:

According to the DOCS's / Desktop Connector instructions selecting the Work Offline mode should allow a user to modify a project CAD drawing already stored/synced locally, and then automatically sync it back to DOCS once working online.

When selecting this mode and opening a CAD drawing, I receive an alert stating that > Can't open this document for editing - name.dwg will open in read-only mode <.  In other words I can open, but not modify, project drawings while in "Work Offline" mode.

Am I doing something incorrectly or is this an issue ?

Thanks;

Nick

Hi @nick.seman,

Thank you for your question.

If you have switched the Desktop Connector to run in offline mode (Right-click on the tray button -> Work offline) and you are sure that the file you are trying to open offline has been opened within the past 15 days, it should work well.

Can you please confirm you are following the above process?

Many thanks.

I have this same issue. While online, I synced an entire folder to work away from the office. Before leaving, I set the connector to offline mode, waited till it turned blue. opened AutoCAD, then open file which is locally cached, but get the open read-only error mentioned above.

Then I tried one more step, I set the connector back to online. In a web browser, I locked the files I wanted to work on. re-sync, set connector to offline. Checked the file explorer, files show as locked by me. Open AutoCAD, on start tab>autodesk docs, the project and files and lock status show correctly. So I open any file I have locked, still get the read-only message. Thoughts?

Thanks
Kevin

Hello @Anonymous Kulig :

Circling back to this . . .

I have recently updated to the latest release of desktop connector 15.6.0.1752.  I am still unable when using Autodesk DOCs to "work offline".   When in "offline" mode and I try to open a file for editing (within Civil 3D) I get the message that the file can only be opened read-only.  The files of interest have been worked on within the past 15 days.  All users within my organization experience the same issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks;

Nick Seman
