Hi,
We have a project with three buildings and each building has its own Arch, Str, and MEPF Revit, model.
I am looking for the best way to make a Revit model for facility management purposes.
Below are a few doubts.
1. As we have multiple buildings in a project, should we create a single model for facility management or 3 separate models one for each building?
2. If we create a single model, what is advisable? should we clean all models separately and link them into the FM model then bind them and then ungroup them or just create from scratch.
Thanks In Advance

Hi,
My apologies for the delay in my response.
BIM 360 Ops does not support linked models at this time. Binding models into one model is what our clients have been using for workshared models. https://www.autodesk.com/bim-360/facilities-management-software/are-you-delivering-all-the-value-you...
You should start with the ARCH model since Ops used the Revit Room for the locations. Then bind the linked model that the facility technician will want to use for a contextual 3D view. Revit exports the default Revit 3D view {3D} into Ops for the model view.
Let me know how I can help.

The Revit export will only bring in the default Revit view {3D}. The exported only looks at this view in the model. Whatever is shown in the default view {3D} will be what is brought through into BIM 360 Ops for a contextual view.
BIM 360 Field Classic will allow you to bring different level views into BIM 360 Ops. This is done by setting up the view in Revit and using the BIM 360 Process.
If you are working in a paid portfolio, the Indoor map feature allows you to see the asset location on a map, with the proper setup.

Hi @mark.mergenschroer, thanks for your reply.
Currently, we are working on a multistory building, and splitting the model floor wise would lead to a cluster of Revit files at the same time using a single model in BIM360 Ops will result in hardship locating assets (because of multistory).
We have tried filters, worksets (means all the visibility graphics option) to sort our building floor wise in the default 3D view.
But as soon as we export it to BIM360 Ops whole building model gets exported there.
BIM360 field, we have not explored yet. We are primarily focusing on Revit -BIM360 ops Workflow.
If you have any workaround which can be implemented in the situation please let us know. because it's not in our interest also not a best practice to split a model into multiple Revit files.
Also it would be really helpful if you can give referance links or any case study which mathces our requirement.
Thank you so much.
The Revit export to BIM 360 Ops is only the default view. In some workshared models, the default view {3D) has been deleted from the model, and Revit exports the building configuration to Ops. The Revit to Ops exporter cannot bring in multiple views to Ops from the same model.
If you are wanting multiple level view then BIM 360 Field Classic is the best workaround. Most clients merge the models into one FM model and use Revit Categories to filter the model down. Some clients have no piping, duct or conduit in their models. The BIM 360 Ops model view is for context only.
This is a BIM 360 Ops Case Study where Revit and BIM 360 was used to deliver the project.https://bim360resources.autodesk.com/connect-construct/arkansas-children-s-hospital-using-constructi...
I would be happy to look at your model and give some recommendations.
Have a great day,
