User Management

User Management

Autodesk switched to user seat licenses in lieu of project licenses.  Currently when you have 500 Field and 100 Glue and 25 Doc's Licenses there is no way to manage that license pool other then a bunch of e-mails between support and yourself.  The only thing you can see in HQ and in the product silo's is users in the system or by project.  When Autodesk switched to this revised licensing model they should have updated the administration head end to match and allow companies to manage.

In addition, you should be able to just disable users in field, glue, doc's -- in lieu of deleting them for a project. (just like buzzsaw is today).

Yes! This has been a problem for us. If we Deactivate or Disable a user, then a Project Admin has a problem adding them to a new project. It will let them add the person, but that user gets "no access". When this happens, the reason for the problem is not clear to the person trying to add them to a new project, nor does that person have Account admin permissions to go Enable or Reactivate them. Also, please be consistent with terminology. When you "Disable" a user, they become "Inactive". When you "Enable", they are then "Active". We need a tool to manage users. Another idea on this is that a user license could be returned after some time period of inactivity. So, maybe if a person hasn't logged in for 6 months or more, the user license is automatically returned to the pool. This would not eliminate the need for a user management tool, but it would help.
