Currently, Public Links can be turned ON/OFF. When toggled ON, the Project Admin can select the number of days until the Public Links will expire (see attachment). The exact wording is:
Public links will expire <NUMBER> days from the date the links were generated.
However, this is not the case; this is the MAXIMUM number of days out that can be selected until the Public Link expires, not when the Public Links will actually expire. The default expiration is 2 weeks from the date of generating the Public Link, and the user generating the Public Link has to change the date of expiration to the MAXIMUM <NUMBER> of days out.
I have a few ideas that could make this better:
1. The <NUMBER> that is specified in the Project Admin is the default expiration when a Public Link is generated. So if today is Wednesday April 13th, and the <NUMBER> specified in Project Admin is 180, the default expiration date would be October 10th (180 days later).
2. Allow Project Admins/Account Admins to Export a list of all active Public Links, along with the following fields (Project, Folder, FolderURN, Public Link, Date Generated, UserID (of who generated it), Expiration Date).
3. Provide a Forge endpoint that can export #2, and also to create/regenerate Public Links.
