The most of our projects we are collaborating with partners who use other software then Autodesk.
We share models via IFC format. my idea is to export my model from Revit to IFC and upload it to Glue.
this way everybody can download the IFC models and use them.
see screenshot bellow:
Glue integrates with Field by sharing the model. With Docs you should be able to share Folder or documents to Field. This would solve the issue of uploading to multiple platforms.
Also if this connection is made you could link Field and Doc issues together. Either by a push or a Sync. Competitors are doing this very well and easy. A Mark-up should also be able to be upgraded to a formal issue for tracking in field not attach a drawing and then mark it up. Docs handles this much better than field.
Following my message in this thread Web release: New Daily Updates Permissions and Photo module improvements!
And related to these topics
have the ability to grant permission to a team member to add attachments to the superintendent daily report.
For example, in my situation I'd like the quality manager of the contractor company to be able to add photos to the daily reports made by the superintendent of the same company, but right now only the owner of the report is able to modify it.
iPad: The Daily Update module allows you to copy subs and the option of including manpower and hours. Many superintendents would be very grateful if a box existed "Include Labor Activities". Many subcontractors work on the same activity with little alteration day after day and the ability to copy would increse the effeciency of the module.
Web: While filling out a daily update on the web the "copy from previous" feature on general notes is not included like it is on the iPad. Please include.
While the newly added feature of being able to subscribe to folder activity is helpful I think it would add value to allow users to send notifications to relevant project members (similar to how markup views in Glue can be sent to individual project members), regardless of whether those users have subscribed to folder updates or not.
Is that functionality on the roadmap or any chance it will be added soon?
There needs to be some way to work within an excel template or other method to customize reports to meet the needs of our clients and team members. I've created a QA/QC checklist for our architect to do their weekly field report and incorporate issues, the problem is the printed report is cumbersome, has unused fields that are locked and cannot be removed, the photos do not seem to be organized by issue or line items they were attached under. The most troubling item is where the comments show up vs the response. For checklist items, the comments show up on the far right side of the page, when printed with the issues imbedded into the report it looks very odd and is difficult to follow.
If the comments of the checklist items showed up to the left of the “response” type and carried a similar format to the Issues, it would make a lot more sense.
Setting up automated workflows of documents in order to automate administrative tasks.
As an example:
1) Clients are increasingly demanding to understand verifying documents. They want first advisors have given their approval on documents and then himself to give the approval. It would be an improvement if such approval in BIM 360 Docs as a kind of workflow could be automated.
2) Suppliers are increasingly partners that are part of the design and construction teams by providing product-specific information or documents. It would be nice if these partners when they share their documents in BIM 360 Docs. A workflow will start automatically sharing this information with specific team members.
Documents can be shared with non-project members of the BIM 360 Docs.
Similar to a public link where users do not have to log into the platform.
As an example a lot of governments orgs that do not want to have to log into receive documents.
This governments need the documents as a progress update only. They are not collaborators.
It would be very helpful if we had the ability to batch Glue-it from Revit. I know you can select a group of views to export, but when updating you need to approve each one individually. Maybe adding the option to "Do this for all remaining Views". It would also be very helpful to be able to set a time to have the posting happen automatically. Think RTV Tools, but for Glue.
How tediuous is creating locations manually once you import your project heirarchy via excel import. Pick a room, apply to the uploaded PDF and draw your blue box... There's gotta be a way to automate this especially when there are THOUSANDS of locations to setup... enough said.
What if in Revit you could have the ROOM SPACES drive the location creation in Field - automating the manual process.
This could also be an opportunity to upload your 2D plans to B3F right from Revit so it can eliminate the pdf upload process...
The workflow would be - setup your room spaces in Revit, export to Field and once it is in B3F, goto library and click on generate room locations.
Obviously there would be upstream and downstream steps as this does not address how a project will be organized within Field. But typically we create a location per room...
Does this make sense?
The ability to export a BIM 360 Shared view from Navisworks with the addition of annotations or mark-ups.
Ability to export BIM 360 Shared Views to a BIM 360 Glue View or a Mark-up.
Now you only have the possibility to export a view point. Added annotations in Navisworks are not exported.
Stamping a PDF document with a QR code which makes it possible to control a hard copy drawing on the latest version with a QR code scanner that makes a link with BIM 360 Docs and indicates with a simple screenshot or this last version or not.
In Navisworks objects are hollow when a section plane or box is used.
Reviewing a obejcts in a hollow section, when using complex models, is problematic.
When sectioning geometry in Navisworks objects should have a solid fill.
