Daily Log Roadmap and Enhancement

A few ideas to improve the utility of the daily logs tool.  In general, please allow collaboration from other roles (sub, AE, etc) and enforce approval workflow for "draft" entries they create.  Permissions and workflow can be defined by project admin.

Weather

• Support automatic weather trending records based on location/integration over the course of each day (currently implemented as a snapshot)
• Support for observed weather (override hourly snapshot history)

Labor

• Add support for adding PHOTOS a labor line item
• Add support for adding COST CODES a labor line item
• Add support for adding LOCATION a labor line item
• Add support for different worker types (foreman, laborers, apprentices, etc) within a line item
• Granular permissions to allow project admins to allow/prompt subcontractors to complete their own daily logs only and submit to a "daily log manager" prior to publishing and including within the compiled daily log
• Non-BIM360 Plan Users - support for notes about the tasks that were performed by workers in a line item
• BIM360 Plan users - ability to link to (or better yet automatically pull in) tasks that are active f...
• Support for project schedule integration and allow selection of active schedule tasks for that day
• Delays - support for marking an line item as delayed and allowing project admins to configure auto/manual issue creation for tracking.  Common delays are weather, late materials, insufficient manpower, etc.

NEW - Deliveries

• Granular permissions to allow project admins to allow/prompt subcontractors to confirm delivery of materials and submit to a "daily log manager" for approval prior to publishing and including within the compiled daily log
• Include LOCATION(S) for where the delivery was STORED and INSTALLED (these could be different if on a LEAN project)
• BIM360 Plan users - ability to link delivery to a particular task.  Ideally this should filter tasks to those that are only active on the day the daily log is being completed.
• Initially support to associate delivery with an approved submittal.  Eventually support a more advanced delivery management process like this.
• Support photo attachments for logging delivery ticket and material condition 
• Support for notes/comments about the delivery item

NEW - Visitor / non-labor personnel tracking

• Support for searching project directory (i.e. an architect is on site for a meeting)
• Support for ad-hoc text logging for non-project members (i.e. local inspector or school tour)

NEW - Call Logs - privacy of this section is critical, only show call log info to roles selected by project admin

• Support for manual tracking of phone call (people involved, start/end time, related items (select issues, RFIs, submittals, etc) and notes).
• If the member directory is ever available on mobile, support for auto logging a call if calling out from the application. For example, if I'm looking at an RFI on my phone and I tap the assignee's name I would see a contact screen to call a phone number.  After I hang up and return to the app, it would prompt me to log the call with any notes and dynamically link to the item that I called from.   The daily log entry would then show a call entry by me with the recipient, the start/end time of the call, a link to to the item I called from, and any notes I enter.

I would add also adding the ability to export the daily log as both a PDF and Excel file for use outside the BIM360 application. Getting this info out into Excel would be most helpful.

@tech  what kind of work/analysis are you doing in Excel that can't be done in BIM360?  

As useful as Excel is I try to avoid it since the second you export from BIM360 your data is silo'd and out of date.

@Shirin.arnold is it better to have a longer request/idea like this or break them out into smaller ideas?  For example, create one idea for weather, one for labor, etc...
