A beneficial feature/addition to BIM 360 Docs would be a pop-up prompt to warn when another document of the same title/name exists within the CDE. We employ a fairly complex folder structure to manage information and approvals processes (until 360 docs develops an approval workflow!) which means documents can be easily be overlooked, lost or take time to find (recently experienced on a live project).
For example:
Our folder structure contains a folder where documents are placed for client approval. If a document is moved from its source folder to the for approval folder it is easy for our consultants to forget it, assume it doesn't yet exist or any number of scenarios. This can lead to uploading another version to the source folder causing duplication as 2 documents of the same name will existing in separate locations and versioning could also be compromised if undetected. The premise of the CDE is to have a single source of the truth however 360 Docs is open to duplication and versioning issues.
A simple solution to this would be to provide a pop-up warning to flag to the user that there is a file of the same name that exists within the Docs. Even better if it's location were provided as it would take the guesswork out of finding the file and ensure against multiple versions of a document existing in separate locations. There could always be the option to ignore and upload anyway for those that don't mind. Alternatively there could be an option to upload as new version of the existing file in its current location (only as a nice to have just its location would be sufficient for now).
