Supporting both Android and Windows mobile applications would increase the adoption of the BIM360 Glue and Field products throughout the wider supply chain.
Our company is a BIM 360 Field enterprise customer. BIM 360 Docs is still lacking too many features that are currently available to us in Field. Changing to Docs would be a step backwards. However, we are receiving a lot of pushback internally and from our trade partners because many of the trade partners do not use Apple products. Please make other platforms available for Field while Docs is continuing to be developed.
We would rather have 1 platform that is fully developed and working correctly...then 2 platforms that are 50%.
From many AU and other meetings with autodesk they have a certain number of resources assigned...so lets say 40 units....so develop two platforms means either 20 units spent on the IOS Platform and the 20 units spent on the android platform. or 30/10 split of something....so something has to sacrifice. It would be great if they had 40 units for both and speeded up both - but what seems to happen is things slow down.
I can agree with that. There was plenty of time to get BIM 360 Field on other platforms before they started developing Docs as a replacement. The request has been out there a long time.

Come on Autodesk you need to start getting serious about Windows on hybrid devices like Surfaces. While it's nice to have native browser access, it greatly lacks when needing to go offline.
I've notice that your nearest competitor (IMHO) PlanGrid is now across Windows too, not to mention iOS and Android.
When is AutoDesk going to take action on comments like this as not dealing with them in a timely matter is certainly limiting their market? BIM360 should be fully compatible with other systems and not merely be limited to iOS.
Compatibility with MS Surface systems Is a must. Checklist functionality is non-existent in the BIM360 web interface that is NOT driven by the apple or android B360 app. A major oversite. This limitation is preventing us from moving forward with BIM build. The Surface is the ideal field platform. A full function PC for all of the reports, research and other documentation that our field personnel need, the ability to connect to installed devices/systems for programming & commissioning, ability to take photos & video, portability, compact, rugged. All it needs is a BIM 360 app. iPads are limited, expensive for what they are, a social media device not a business platform, the screen is nice, especially the part where is cracks easily. Not an ideal field tool. With the Surface we can eliminate one more system for our Field personnel, the iPad. It is also cheaper for the company, not needing to maintain a Windows laptop, iPad, and cell phone. Also less demand on the IT department. Moving forward the future of field operations will be only 2 devices a cell phone and a PC based tablet. iPads were useful but are a novelty at best and will prove to be a waste of business capital. I know few, if any, managers or field personnel that only have an iPad and a phone. Why? Because the iPad is great for email, social media, web-surfing and minimal office work. Any serious business person still goes to their PC or MAC laptop/tablet or desktop to do any serious work.
