The update from May made it possible to open Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio files in the webversion of Microsoft Office (Word Online, Excel Online, etc). However, these webversion only facilitate basic functionalitities compared to the desktop variant.
From a lot of users we get the question if it is possible to open these files in de desktop application without first having to download the document, navigate to the folder on the computer, open the desktop application, work in it, save and reupload it again.
Normally in Word Online there is the option in the top bar to ’Open in Desktop-app’.
This also makes it easier to open Excel files larger than 5mb without first having to download it. And also to use formulas in Excels which is not possible in the webversion.
