I’ve worked on a few projects where IoT and BIM were linked for MEP monitoring, and honestly, the success came down to how early we planned the data structure. If you wait until the end to connect sensors, it’s chaos. The best setup we had was when every major asset in the BIM model had consistent IDs tied to the sensor data from day one, it made predictive alerts and maintenance tracking way easier.

We also built a live dashboard (just a Power BI layer on top of Revit data) so the facility team could actually see performance trends instead of digging through logs. It’s not perfect yet, but once you see a chiller issue coming before it happens, it’s hard to go back to the old way.
