Required properties doesn't seem to be really required

We often experience how some "required" properties (standard or custom whatsoever) aren't really "required"...

Example, today the architects entered dozens of new Issues, always leaving blank the Root Cause despite this is a required properties... They then proceed to synch everything with the Open status, being able to do so...

This behaviour is known to happen with Checklists, Tasks, Equipments... did we misunderstand the "required" meaning?

Unfortunately the 'required' property only seems to be enforced when in the web interface.

You can leave out what you like from the iPad, but if you then try and edit in the web it will make you fill out the required fields.

Bit of a pain, but it's always been that way from my understanding.

Hi @RT1980, thanks for your reply...

from my perspective this should be either fixed or cleared up by Autodesk in the app (by specifying, for example, "required on the web", or else)... If you put a "Required" checkbox option for properties, users will expect that property to be "required" indeed...

I hope Autodesk won't ask me to post an Idea about this 🙂

I suggest that you check the BIM 360 Ideas site to see if anyone else has posted a similar Idea. If there is a similar Idea, “Vote Up” the idea and leave a feedback to help us to better make a selection on what ideas to implement.

If no one has submitted an Idea for this feature, click on the “Submit an Idea” to create a new one. I would like to highlight that it is important for us to understand the reason of their request, instead of exact specifications and blueprints for how to build it. We encourage you to tell us about all your ideas but in order to efficiently catalog and potentially implement them, we ask you to submit each idea separately. If your idea is similar to another but substantively different, you should reference the previous idea and point out the differences to avoid confusion.Smiley Very HappySmiley Very Happy

Just kidding. This hardly seems like an idea but more like a flaw that needs to be addressed. To pile on, it has been an issue for quite some time and would love to see this one resolved, because at the least it is very confusing and for most it is a total pain not to be able to make it a required field on the iPad where most of the issues are created. It really messes your data up.

Hi fpensa,

Thank you for reporting this.

Our developers are aware of the different bahavior on the iPad, there is no need to log this request in the Ideas website.

Hopefully this will be addressed in a future release of the product.

Cheers,

Luciane
