I am a doctoral student at the Bartlett School for the Built Environment at University College London researching the effects of project delivery environments on the efficacy of BIM. I have done a great deal of work on the theoretical end, and now I aim to couple that with a case study of a BIM-enabled project.
To that end, I am seeking a current or recent BIM-enabled project that would allow me to perform such a case study; particularly any that utilized a multi-party contacting strategy such as Integrated Project Delivery. This would consist of my sending a questionnaire to stakeholders and then undertaking follow-up questions and potentially interviews.
To date I have published several papers on BIM, and would be happy to share this research with any interested parties. I have also attached a great article for businesses considering participation in case studies, though I should note that this focuses on a teaching case study rather than a research case study. That said, it provides some key information on what participation entails and how it can benefit firms. Over and above what is contained therein, I want to provide a few additional notes:
- Companies and individual projects may remain completely anonymous if they so choose.
- I would sign a confidentiality agreement of the company's choosing.
- The company and the individual persons involved would be given the opportunity to read the study before submission and would retain “final cut” editing rights towards its content.
- I would be happy to concurrently investigate any other part of the BIM or governance processes that are particular interest to the company.
I would work to ensure that the company gains value from the study and hope to provide research that helps your business and the proliferation of BIM overall. If anyone is interested in being a case study subject or knows of a recent BIM-enabled project that might be, I would greatly appreciate if you would contact me at Robert.Howard.09@ucl.ac.uk.
Many thanks,
Rob Howard
