C4R via Forge API - where to begin?

Hi Folks,

I'm a somewhat experienced consumer of the Revit API.

The latest trend in Revit has been a move away from locally hosted models to cloud hosted (A360/C4R).  I understand the BIM360 is the foundation of A360 and thus C4R.  I've been trying to understand lately whether or not the Forge API can be used to access Revit models that are hosted in the cloud.

I've downloaded the API and it's examples, but I've gotten nowhere with trying to gain some visibility into C4R hosted docuements.

I've experimented a bit with both 2-legged auth (successfully, but no C4R visibility, and 3-legged auth (unsuccessfully).  But, that is as far as I've been able to go with the API.

I've hit a bit of a wall and searching for C4R on the forum hasn't yielded any fruit.

If anyone could help point me in the right direction, or even just tell me it's not possible, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks much in advance!

Hi Greg,

To start with this topic, please refer to this post:

https://fieldofviewblog.wordpress.com/2017/01/26/c4r-and-forge-api-access/

Once you understand the big picture and want to access published revit model, then these :

BIM 360 and Forge Overview

Once you get to this, you will be ready to look deeper to each component level.

I hope this helps.

(Thanks for raising.  Very good point about missing product side view from Forge help.)
