Instancing Alembic file animation

Hello,

im want to be able to instanciate animation with bifrost.

for that i cached one mesh animation in an alembic file.

I want to instance it with the set_instance_geometry node.

It works, however it will only instance the frame set in the read_alembic node. is there a way to instance different frame for each instance? i tried to set the instance_id_values... without success.

I wonder if it s supported... I had the same issue with ASS files...

You have to use a "time"  node, and connect the frame on your "read_alembic" node.

If you want to instance each frame individually, you can place the read_alembic node inside. Then, you can use "current_index" as the start frame, and use "max_iterations" to define how many frames to output.

Is it possible to trigger Alembic animation distributed as Instances by map or geometry?

i think you can set the frame per instance, so it should be possible. also you can set visibility of instance, so it should be ok to make instance appear by map.

Hey, thank you for response. As I am not very good at Bifrost graph yet, is it possible to get an visual example? This is what I am at now.

Or maybe it is very complicated to do that or to explain with images?

This is prew. I done with Mash and more or less what I am talking about.

i m not sure, but maybe you can just import all geometry of the alembic file in memory by iterating on the cache, and then use the array of geometry to instance the different instances.

I m not sure that would be the right way though.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙂 Hope maybe somebody will have some ideas and will share the graphs or compounds. As it is very hard to find out on your own.
