Arnold Color mapping based on Bifrost Liquid Velocity?

I'm trying to animate a boat cutting through some ocean waves.  For additional realism, I thin the water should change color based on velocity when rendered.  Currently, the ocean surface is either a constant color or 100% foam particles.  The bifrost particles will change from blue to white based on velocity in the viewport, but the Arnold render doesn't do that.

This image is taken from a Houdini tutorial and shows what I am after.  The faster, agitated water will gradually turn into foam by shades of lighter blue before transitioning into foam particles.

Is there a way to do this with Bifrost liquids and BOSS?
