Expert Elite Highlight: Autodesk VRED 2017 Pro SR1 | Serdar Hakan Düzgören

Most of us can only dream about owning a fast, sleek, red sports car, but others can literally vizualise that car using Autodesk software VRED 2017. Autodesk is excited to highlight Expert Elite member Serdar Hakan Düzgören, who was recently awarded an Expert Elite top contributor at Autodesk University 2016's EE Summit, in this AutodeskHelp Highlight series. Serdar will give us a quick tour guide of VRED functions via a simple car project.

Hello everyone;

Here we will examine some features of Autodesk VRED 2017 and create a simple sample project.  Autodesk VRED is a very powerful visualization software preferred by many automotive companies.

Features of the Program and How to Use Them:

This is the main menu of VRED. It includes main commands. By using these commands, you can realize many tasks like opening file, importing file and test rendering.

First, we open a new file by clicking the “Open” button.

In this menu, we can adjust all settings of our object from its size to its quality.

Create the paint material for the car we added to our scene as above.

Next, create the glass material for our car.

Screenshot_7.png

We create chrome material for the metal parts of our car.

Screenshot_8.png

We create plastic material for the stop lamps of our car.

Screenshot_9.png

We create tire material for the wheels of our car.

Screenshot_10.png

We take a test render to check the appearance of the materials we created.

Screenshot_11.png

We use the above menus to check the various parts of our car.

Screenshot_12.png

By using the “Camera” menu, we can select various features of the cameras we will use in our scenes.

And, we can create a new camera.

Screenshot_14.png

The “FILE OUTPUT” tab is used to adjust render settings of the scene that we will render and to take single frame renders or animation renders.  Also, we can render different render layers for post-production tasks. In addition, we can realize network render tasks.

The “IMAGE” tab: This tab is used to adjust many settings like resolution, save location of our file.

Screenshot_15.png

“Meta Data”: This is the scene where the information on the scene to be rendered is saved.

Screenshot_16.png

RENDERPASSES”: This is the section where we can select render layers of the stage to be rendered. The layers rendered in this section are used in post-production tasks.

Screenshot_17.png

Under FILE OUTPUT's “Animation”: If we have a scene that contains animation, we should select the “Render Animation” checkbox in this tab to realize the animation operation.

Screenshot_18.png

CLUSTER”: This tab is used to network render our scene. We can activate it by checking the “Enable Cluster” box.

Screenshot_19.png

The “GENERAL SETTINGS” tab is used for settings like basic quality, lighting of the scene to be rendered.

Screenshot_20.png

We can use the “RAYTRACING QUALITY” tab to set the Interactive option under Illumination mode to "Precomputed + Shadows"

 19-VRED.DisplayOutput.png

We can use the “DISPLAY OUTPUT” tab to adjust the color and quality settings of the image file to be saved after the rendering operation.

FINAL RESULTS: Now you have the red sports car of your dreams on your fingertips.
