The Portal, also known as the Downtown Rail Extension project, is a transformational infrastructure project part of the Transbay Joint Powers Authority’s (TJPA) vision to deliver seamless transportation service through its multimodal six-level transit hub, the Salesforce Transit Center, in downtown San Francisco. The Portal will extend Caltrain service from Fourth and King Street and ultimately, the California High-Speed Rail system to the Salesforce Transit Center, in the heart of downtown San Francisco and connect 11 transit systems. This significant extension involves the construction of a 1.3-mile-long tunnel designed to accommodate up to 90,000 daily riders, ensuring efficient and rapid transfers. The presentation will focus on the digital delivery vision, goals, and objectives, illustrating the collaborative process in developing the digital delivery strategy. Additionally, it will cover the comprehensive implementation of digital delivery and shed light on valuable lessons learned, challenges faced, and opportunities encountered throughout the project's initial phases.
