Drive vs A360 Drive

Am I wrong in seeing that Drive is a different thing from A360 Drive with essentially the same name? I just got here from the Desktop Connector and none of the data I have in the A360 Drive is here.

If this is intended to be a different and new thing, are there upload limits? I don't see anything showing the space avail like in the old drive. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

You are not wrong. Drive and A360 Drive are different services. Drive is a completely new ground-up purpose-built technology solution that is offered as a subscription benefit to Vault and some of our desktop products today. Drive comes with Desktop Connector utility that can be installed on your computer. Desktop Connector is not a typical sync utility in the sense that it does not download files to your computer but has a way to represent cloud files on your computer. Desktop Connector also understands referenced data when you drop files into the connected Drive. Drive entitles you to 25GB space in the cloud. From upload point of view, there is a restriction of 2gb per file size when you upload from Desktop Connector. Storage consumption indicator is not yet available in Drive. That said, the team is working on adding more features to better manage data in the cloud.

Thanks, one last question then, and I understand if you cant answer it. Is it expected that the two Drives will eventually merge into one service?

I'm asking because from a customers point of view now there's yet another cloud storage and sharing option and it has essentially the same name as an existing one. I know there will be calls coming in as users discover two places named Drive in their explorer so just trying to get all the info to head that off. Thanks!

I do expect the end solution to be just Autodesk Drive. From a customers point of view, having both cloud solutions will create confusion. We are working toward gradually converging to one solution. Hope this helps.

So now I"m very confused.  A360  (end of run) yet there it is  still.  IS it the same one as the end of run?  A new old one? or will it Autoreplace/upgrade to Drive??  This is nuts, if DropBox did this there wouldn't be a dropbox any more... Give the new one a new name, heck call it ziggy, or something new....   Autodesk are you taking ques from Microsoft?   PLEASE stop.

Hello,

Then how can we migrate existing data from A360 Drive to Drive?

Hi there,

Unfortunately there is no migration tool or alike.

You will have to download the folders from A360 and then reupload to Drive.

The good thing is that using the desktop connector you can do the uploading just by copy pasting the files to your Drive in Windows Explorer.

Hope that helps

So what happens to subscription users of a360 and AutocadLT

I installed Drive and Connector was going great until I got a note indicating my trial is over!

My subscription says I have access to Storage 360... so frustrating

Hi, I still have access to both A360 and obviously now, drive. I used the A360 app on my phone for access to the cloud while on site. Will there be a similar app to access drive?

Thanks

It seems that Autodesk want to DRIVE their users into a BRICK WALL

This is a real mess. I recently started using A360 Drive to share files,  mainly DWFs for viewing Inventor models. Some how I accidentally read somewhere that A360 Drive was being replaced by Autodesk Drive, which was linked to my Product Design Suite subscription (or whatever it's called now). I googled Autedesk drive and found a forum for it. Later, when I went to go back to the forum, I discovered that there is no link to it on the Autodesk Forums page. You can only access the forum if you google it??

I was disappointed to find that Autodesk Drive only provides 25 GB of storage, whereas A360 provides 100 GB. Autodesk Drive does support a wide range of file types (I'm not sure if A360 supports as many), but recently I found that STEP files were no longer viewing properly, even though they were initially. I went on the hidden forum to discuss this, but so far no response from Autodesk personnel (maybe they don't know the forum exists either). I did have a response from another user who must have also accidentally discovered the forum.

I discovered today the measuring off DFWs is no longer working on Autodesk Drive, at least the measure icon has disappeared from the toolbar (it seems to flash up briefly on load). On A360 Drive, measuring is still possible.

Incidentally, there is nowhere on Autodesk Support specifically to provide bug reports. The way the system is set up it appears the assumption is that Autodesk software just works, and Support's task is to to teach the user use it properly. This is very arrogant considering how buggy it actually is.

All this makes it difficult for people like me to plan my companies CAD strategy going forward, when there are many incomplete and buggy products with uncertain futures to choose from. Can someone provide a road map for Autodesk's cloud storage and product mix for the next five years?

Hello,

I just started using A360 Drive but now that I have read this thread (that A360 might be discontinued) I don't think I should be using A360 drive anymore, correct? So does that mean I should upload all my files on Autodesk Drive?

Also, I just noticed that Autodesk Drive does not have Measure option (for Revit 3D Views) which we get in A360 Drive, which was very useful for presentations.

It probably depends on what you were using Drive for. If you are using it just to store files, then I would move to the newer Drive at https://drive.autodesk360.com/ . That will allow you to utilize the desktop connector to access your content as well.

The old A360 Drive at https://a360.autodesk.com/drive/app/ is still around, but the programs that were connected to it like FormIt for its save files, are finally being updated to move their saves to other places like Docs.

For now both are an ok option to use, but for longterm the newer one is the safer bet. Also, don't forget theres the viewer site too if you just want to share certain files with some restrictions. https://viewer.autodesk.com/

So for Revit users, it's essentially 3 different ways of doing the same thing.

Is there a Page/thread that compares the 3? so that I could compare which option is good for me?
Like Autodesk Drive does not have Measure option in 3d View, but the viewer site has Markup tool which I thought was only available in Autodesk Mobile (Android) app.

So now we are no longer able to use  A360 Drive for viewing files and we have no option but to use Drive for sharing viewable files. However, we can no longer measure off a 3D file. A great step forward Autodesk???

We are struggling with the proper management and storage of our company files as well. We have complicated this with BIM 360. What if any file structure does Auto desk recommend for system and work flow. I feel as if this is changing faster and no vetting is being done to insure work flow. What is Autodesk's work flow for cloud storage, sharing and work flow. I want to work with Auto desk but every time we think we have something a new issue comes up.

What is the best way???
