We normally attached images in our  Autocad drawing in either of the following ways 1).drag and drop from folder to viewport  2). copy paste - copy image form folder to viewport 3). by external referencing. To some cases, we shared the file and forgot to include the images, what will happen then, when you open the drawing, the image is gone.

Here's the tips

1. open first your image in any of your 2d image editor, in a normal case MS Paint

2. Press CTRL A then hit VTRL C

3. Go to your drawing, on your active viewport, press CTRL V to paste the image
4. Rescale if necessary
5. Save your file

If you share your drawing even the image file is not included, the image attached to drawing can be seen and don't have issue at all

The inability*, with compensate with the unnecessary mixing of vector data with raster data,
will be very welcome by "those users".
*Passing on individual files without using the great option of Etransmit.

These are then often the same users who complain about the file size
or be angry in 10 years when they can no longer edit the embedded images.

To embed images in AutoCAD in a smart way, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open your AutoCAD software and go to the desired drawing where you want to embed the image.

  2. Use the "Attach" command by typing "ATTACH" in the command line or accessing it from the ribbon menu (Insert tab -> Reference panel -> Attach).

  3. In the "Attach" dialog box, click on the "Image" button. This will allow you to select the image file you want to embed. Choose the image file from your local storage or network location and click "Open".

  4. AutoCAD will display the "Specify On-screen" prompt. Here, you can either click on the desired location in the drawing or specify the insertion point coordinates manually. After selecting the location, the image will be embedded in the drawing.

  5. You can use the "Scale" and "Rotate" options to adjust the size and orientation of the image if needed. These options will be available in the command line after placing the image.

  6. To further modify the image properties, you can use the "Properties" panel or right-click on the image and select "Properties" from the context menu. This will allow you to change settings such as transparency, brightness, and contrast.

Remember that embedded images in AutoCAD increase the file size, so it's important to use compressed image formats like JPEG to minimize the impact on the file size.

Embed images in AutoCAD by using the "Insert" command or embedding as an OLE object to include them directly in your drawing.
