Same problem I'm having. I have a drawing on my AutoCADWS account where 21 is the measured distance. The distance is appx 5,1 meters. Important: Original drawing is METRIC !!

Hi Lars, Were you taking dimensions on the Layout or the model? Thanks, Dorit

@dorit I noticed that I get very different results for measuring the same area from the model view and one of the other views that are setup in this file. Why is that?

Hi Tom, The model view measures in drawing units whereas layouts are measured in paper units. In AutoCAD when you double click a layout it switches to model but if you measure without double clicking you'll get the same results as in AutoCAD WS.

Hi I also have this problem on my ipad. Why can't 2m be 2m meters, not 2,1, or 1,3 or three different measurements in model, layout 1 and layout 2? There must be a logical solution to that problem, otherwise the measurement tool is useless.

Hi,
We would like to inform you that AutoCAD 360 latest version for iOS devices (2.1) includes a units settings support. Soon to be available for Android users also...
From now on, you can easily solve this problem and change the unit type display to whatever type you need, right from your mobile. Just enter the drawing setting and choose between metric and imperial unit types (or no type at all).
Check out our new Blog post https://www.autocad360.com/blog/
And the units settings tutorial- http://mobilehelp.autocad360.com/customer/portal/articles/1280233-how-do-i-change-the-measuring-unit...

The unit type is set according to the original drawing that was imported from AutoCAD. If the original DWG was in Metric, dimensions is WS will appear in Metric system as well

Sorry, I should have specified this earlier - I'm referring to the measuring tool that is part of the tool set on the iPad App. In other words if I want to measure something on the drawing that hasn't been dimensioned, there's that little function where you tap and drag, but it displays in imperial units and I need to see them in metric. How do I change the units that are displayed?

The measuring tool on the iPad App is also using the unit type assigned to the original drawing uploaded to AutoCAD WS.

This is not true. I can't open drawing and see them in metric even if the original is in metric

I'm using AutocadWS and I'm puzzled when it comes to units. I have opened a DWG file and am using the Measure tool in the Home menu to measure distances on my drawing. I know the real dimensions of the drawing but I'm getting different numbers on the CAD drawing! This isn't really about metric vs. imperial. For example, I measure 20 on the drawing (unit not specified), but the real measure is 2.4m (or 7.87 feet). The proportions on the drawing are perfect (ratios of distances mach real ratios) but the problem is in values. My options: 1) Disregard all this and simply apply a correction factor to scale the measured value with the real value 2) find the options in AutoCadWS that allow you to change units/scales. Seems not to be trivial! Any help is appreciated! R.

Hi Rakhaa, The measure tool should provide an accurate measurement. Please send us the DWG to feedback@autocadws.com and highlight the places in the drawing you got an inaccurate measurement, so we can examine it & determine the problem. Thanks
