Linear or Non-Linear Analysis?

We have AUD, however because we are a Canadian Utility, we belong to a standards group whose standards we need to use since we no longer have a P.Eng on staff.

Because of this, we obviously cannot use the RUS standards included with AUD out-of-the-box so I will attempt to build our current standards for our own use. That being said, we have strict standards that need to be followed from CSA (Canadian Standards Association) and as of recently, all of our pole analysis must be non-linear.

Does AUD perform linear or non-linear analysis?

Currently, we use an analysis software called SPIDACalc, but being able to do non-linear analysis in AUD will definitely be beneficial since we can export to Map 3D.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Short answer is YES, non-linear analysis is possible.

I'm not sure where you are with looking into AUD (kicking the tires vs. definitely going down that road and looking to configure).  I'm a third-party developer/consultant and happy to chat with you (858-337-2211).  But if looking to have help with configuration, I think Spatial Business Systems is a great place to start.  They've done a lot of the AUD configuration projects lately and no sign of stopping.

The AUD forum over at Spatial (SBS) is much more active than these boards at Autodesk these days, if you're just looking for general advice, I suggest posting over there: http://blog.spatialbiz.com/forums/forum/aud/

Do you want to integrate AUD with SPIDACalc or have AUD replace it and perform all analysis?  As evidenced by this post - http://spidasoftware.com/events/spidacalc-software-integration-design-process-webinar/ - SBS has some good experience with getting AUD and SPIDACalc to talk to each other.

Best of luck!
Charlie
