I have created an ISO symbol to use with an instrument.
Is there a way of displaying text in the symbol. I want it to display 'CM' for conductivity meter. Ive tried using text, which displays rotated on the ISO, ive tried using lines to draw the letters, which displays backwards onthe ISO (see attached).
Is there an easy way to achieve this?
You need to utilize the ISO Messages in the ISO tab of the ribbon. They will let you assign a shape and text.
wouldn't that mean I would have to insert it for every symbol on every drawing?
I am wanting it to automatically bring the text in with the symbol.
No. You would place in on the pipeline in the model. That way it is there everytime you drop an iso. See attached image

You are correct Phil. You would have to insert the iso message on every instance of the "conductivity meter" in your model.
The problem with iso messages, at least for me in version 2014, is that the message node likes to connect to the weld dots of fittings and then they disconnect your isos.
so there's no way of adding text to the ISO symbol, so the symbol inserts with the text automatically?
The only was is to add an ISO message each time I insert the item into a line?
Surely there must be a way of doing this?
We use annotations. We haven't found a way to force them vertically, but AFAIK this is the best way to have stuff labelled automatically.
In your case you'd want to define a filter on a property.
