Afternoon all,

Could anyone offer advice how I can schedule a task that will export a daily xls from the Data manager?

You can set it up with Report Creator. Any reason why you would need Data Manager over it?

Essentially, I've created a series of custom properties in P3D that I would like to appear in navis. Ideally. Would like a real-time link between the  P3D .dwg and the navis so when I refresh navis the properties update along with. I don't believe this is possible?

The only alternative that I'm aware of is to export the custom properties from Data Manager and create the link to the .xls sheet via Data Tools within Navis.. The problem here is that these properties are 'Frozen' against the .xls export data. So I was toying with the idea of creating a scheduled task to carry out automated exports on a daily (maybe hourly) basis to keep the navis model reflective of the master P3D model.

I would (massively) appreciate any thoughts on this as It is extremely new territory for myself

thanks

I'm pretty sure Report Creator can get you all the same info as Data Manager and you can automate it with a Batch file. I'd be interested in how you create your connection string in Data Tools - I haven't had much luck with it. I ended up creating a Navisworks plugin that mines the Project database for the properties but it takes 30-45 minutes to import them so it's not ideal. I haven't found a better way unfortunately but I think you may be on to something.

Dont know why It didn't cross my mind to utilise the Report Creator, will give it a good go tomorrow and see how I get on... Then attempt to figure out how to batch it.

ill screen shot my SQL strings tomorrow, took a while to get my head around but managed to extract the data I was after in the end.

thanks for your help, appreciated!
