Weld gaps for Spool type drawings in projects

Hi all, 

I started with a trial of Plant 3D, my company is looking for piping software that we can get develop iso's and generate pipe spools, currently we use Acorn (or Spool Fab now) for pipe spool drawings.  I wanted to know if its possible to set weld gaps by pipe size within projects or even with the spec setup? Seems that I only know of setting a weld gap for the entire project only in project setup, is there a way to override and set gaps per spec or line size?

Dear @adorzweilerS8JVS ,

 

You recognized it correctly. The setting for welding gap can only be applied to the entire project. There is no set to reach the welding gap for any nominal size.

Do you know if Autodesk is going to incorporate weld gap in the spec editor in the future for individual size editing?That would be very helpful, let me know your insight if you have time, thanks again.

I also have a question about the weld gaps. Is it possible to define them with a measuring range? For example: 2.8999 - 3.1999 mm for a real distance of 3 mm.

 

Under certain circumstances, the welding gap cannot always be defined with an absolute value.

[Edit] Basically, my question is nonsense. the offset weld gap should be exactly 3mm.

However, it would be desirable if I could create a connection between two components whose welding gap is in the range of 2.8999 - 3.1999mm to each other.

Dear @andrej.heldt ,

 

Unfortunately the Weld Gap feature in Plant 3D doesn't really make any sense!
As long as I can't set the distance for the Weld Gap's, I get DN10 and DN 2200, for example. 3mm
Have fun with the pipeworkers and the welders who bind you to the cross.

And here is the Solution. Go to "DefaultConnectorsConfig.xml" in your project, search for the connection you want to change (in my case Buttweld and Mixed Buttweld) and give her a little Offset Tolerance (iam good with the value 0.3)

And the Connection will fit.

Dear Hartmut,

I was once a fierce pipeline fitter myself and I can tell you that I was happy when the construction planned at least a little welding gap.

In my case, 3mm is enough, because in my current project I'm moving in a range from min. 1" to max. 6".
