The ortho view does not remember its layer state when I use Edit View?

I needed to edit some parameters on my Ortho view, but when I used Edit View, it changes to a completely different layer state than the one I had created it in. It does not match the current layer state of the source drawing either. I am at a loss to why it is changing the layer state when I simply want to make minor updates.

I have attached some pictures for clarity. "Ortho" is what the ortho drawing looks like before any updates. "Edit" is what is showing up when I try to Edit View. "Source" is the current layer state of the source drawing.

@bthompson3YVGV ,

yes, this is automatic. You can either use the layer status of your 3D model or adjust the layers in your ortho template file, but when an ortho view is updated, the setting is always used and any changes in the ortho view are reset to it.
And that's a good thing.

Hi, thank you for your response. I still don't understand how it works though so please bear with me.

When I update the ortho view, the updated layer state does NOT match the original layer state from when the ortho view was created, nor does it match the layer state of the model. How does AutoCAD determine what this new layer state will be? That's the main part that puzzles me, it seems to pull the layer state out of thin air.

Either the layer setting is taken from the Ortho template (1)
or you use the ‘Use 3D model layers’ button (2) in der Orthot Titelblock configuration

I have Use 3D Model Layers activated, but doesn't that just affect the color of the objects? It's actually toggling the visibility of layers, completely randomly it seems. In the attached images in the original post you can see that it hides certain objects that were originally visible when I captured the ortho. I'm leaning towards believing that it is a very unfortunate bug.
