Seeing different pressure class of the same equipment without changing spec or creating new component..

The same equipment may have different pressure class and material properties. I would like to see different pressure class and material properties options of each equipment in isometry without changing the spec.

Should I add a new component to the catalog for each pressure class? Or  should i use different spec each pressure class? 

I tried something to use when creating equipment in the catalog but it didn't work the way I wanted.

In your spec you can set the Component Designation as Custom, 

That will allow you to update it's properties directly in the 3D model, without the part receiving spec updates (and thus not be overwritten)
If you set the Component Designation as Parametric, the part will also receive spec updates. 

If the Component Designation is <blank> it will receive spec updates but non-modifiable.

The default specs are grouped by pressure class (as are most specs in piping) but you do not have to do the same.

First of all thank your your answer. I tried your advise but i think it is not thing what i want. Then i found this advise . Plant-3d-custom-spec-property-project-property-definitions I tried this too bu still i haven't solved.

 

Isn't there a method where I can select the pressure class or material property as a list, or at least see it when I add it to the isometry table?

We use to have a different spec each pressure class. It makes work easier for the piping engineers...and the admin.

 

You MAY have multiple versions of the same valve with different pressure classes in one spec, but then you will need to have in the corresponding flanges, gaskets and bolt sets of the same pressure class as well, to assure the connection of the right (= same pressure class) parts. 

 

Sure, you could turn off the property requirements of the flange joint setup to allow connecting your one an only PN40 ball valve of the spec to a PN100 or PN25 or PN16 flange....but I wouldn't recommend that 😉
