i am trying the Refenence Dimension command on the Iso Tab and while this is a long overdue and very useful tool the dimensions do not match between the Model and the Isometric. see below.

I've been having issues with Extension 1 too. I didn't notice that exactly but I don't get an icon for Reference Dimension on the Iso ribbon nor do I get properties once the ref dim is placed. I also lose the ability to swap out heads on things like tanks and vessels. Do you have the same issues with Equipment creation?

yes i did until i did this...

Iso Reference Dimensions - Update Iso Styles
Existing Iso styles and symbols need to be updated before creating isometric drawings that include isometric reference dimensions in an existing project.

To update the existing symbols and Iso style, create a new (empty) project and copy IsoSkeyAcadBlockMap.xml, IsoSymbolStyles.dwg, and IsoConfig.xml overwriting files in the existing Isometric and Iso style folders

I did my testing on 2 different computers and a Virtual Machine all with clean installs and OOTB unmolested projects. All instances resulted with the same issues. Autodesk support couldn't re-create issues on their end but after a couple screenshares determined that is wasn't something that I'm doing wrong. I'm just wondering if your issues are related to mine. I'm going to send Martin a link to this post so he can forward off to development and hopefully they can determine if they might be related.

Agreed! Are you seeing issues with equipment creation too?

Hi Jed,

The compared dimensions in those images are so different (about double the length), it seems like they may not be referring to the same portion of the pipe.  Could you please check that again and maybe just run a quick Iso on just the small portion of pipe that has the reference dimension.  How does that compare?

Yes, good catch. That is in the Ext 1 readme.  Anyone applying Plant 3D 2016 extension 1 will hopefully check out that readme. There are some manual editing steps needed.
