Producing Iso's that you can send straight to fabrication

The small company that I work with has been using Plant 3D for a couple years and we still have to edit and clean-up our iso's before giving them to the client or sending them to fabrication.

 

We have tried all different settings in the Plant 3D for isos and can't seem to find the right combination.

we are using Plant 3D 2016,

 

 

I tend to get the continuations symbols flipped around often, and get a lot of bleed over where fittings belonging to one line show up on both sheets in the body and in the BOM.

 

And on the dimension, I would like the value to be placed above the dimension line and I would like to force the arrows and text between the lines...I think the dimension issue is settings and variables in AutoCAD but haven't found the right one.

 

The guys I work with tend to go thru a process of cutting iso's at a point and then cleaning them up in AutoCAD while trying to keep up with the changes in the model and on the iso's separately as the project progresses...I am afraid we are going to overlook something doing this.

 

I would to do all the changes in the model and then print new iso's if need be.

Sounds like there are two issues - one presentation, one technical.  Here's a couple of thoughts.

 

The presentation issue is one that may not be solvable, at least through changing settings.  Automatically generated isometrics are universally ugly compared to hand-created or tweaked ones.  It has been a near constant battle here to get the checkers to accept that while it may be visually ugly, the dimensions are clear and accurate and so changes to make it "pretty" are NOT necessary.

 

The technical issue may be solvable, but could be as simple as spreading the line over more drawings.  That's another fight, where checkers insist on cramming as much as possible into as few drawings as possible.  That made sense in the days of paper but with electronic drawings that doesn't matter any more.  If spreading the line out over a couple of extra sheets gives the layout room to breath (fabrication iso's have a lot more detail so they'll need more room) then that's what happens.

You rightly said. Time of generation should come down. Bechmark of others is only 15secs. Quality of Autocad Isometric is good than Isogen.
