Plant 3D 2014 regen issue when changing drawings

Ever since I installed extension 1 (and uninstalled it after) I have been experiencing an issue. When first opening a drawing everything shows up great. If I open a second drawing (in the same instance of Autocad) and then go back to the original I have to REGENALL the drawing because nothing shows up. Everything is fine and dandy once I run REGENALL.

Has anyone seen this or know how to fix?

I haven't seen this myself, but I'll look into it. Is this happening on one particular drawing or on any drawing?

I'd like to know too if anyone else here has experienced this.

This has been happening on any drawing I open. It only began after installing Extension 1.

The computer is on Windows 7 x64 with an Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 on the latest drivers.

And do you say that you currently have Extension 1 UNinstalled and are still having this happen?

And just to be thorough, have you purged your local data cache recently? If needed, this link includes how to do that:  http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=22110129&linkID=11705365

How about cleaning out the graphics cache?

__In Windows 7 the folder is located at: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD Plant 3D 2013 – English\R19.0\enu\GraphicsCache

__It’s recommended to create a backup folder and move the contents of the cache to the backup folder.

__Restart-after moving the contents of the graphics cache folder

After the installation of Extension-1, We also got the same problem, everytime we needed to regen. Finally un-installed all the products and installed only Plant2014. There are major issues in Plant3d 2014 Extension-1.

Martin, I tried clearing all caches are instructed here (some of which I did not know existed) but the problem remains.

Arun, I'm at least happy to see I'm not alone in this one. Reinstalling Plant 3D 2014 seems like the next logical option. Thanks for the response.

I’ve tested this on P3D 2014 and Extension 1 with the SampleProject and haven’t been able to recreate. I’m able to switch back and forth between drawings with everything still showing and no regen needed.  Using the SampleProject and opening the large Master Drawing, then opening other drawings as well as creating new drawings and switching back to the Master Drawing –it still shows fine.

I used Realistic Visual Style, tried with Hardware Acceleration on and off, and Structure representation on Line Model and then Shape Model. I also had a colleague with Ext 1 try it on his desktop with a NVIDIA Quadro 5000 and he got the same results –no trouble.

So it may be less about Ext 1 and have more to do with something else, perhaps your particular project(?), or the settings I mentioned above, or perhaps your particular video card/driver(?)

Here are some more ideas:

__Try testing this on the SampleProject rather than the project you’re currently using and see if that behaves differently.  (Here’s the typical location: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014\R19.1\enu\SampleProjects\SampleProject)

__Try different Visual Styles, tried with Hardware Acceleration on or off, and different Structure representation (Line Model being the easiest to display).

__Test on a different computer using a different Video card and/or different driver.

__Have a different user (with different Windows profile) test.

__If project directory on a network, try locally.

__Try running “Repair” (From your Windows Control Panel/Uninstall or change a program/ select Plant 3D 2013 and then “Repair or Reinstall”. Then Repair.)

__If you do uninstall and reinstall, of course be sure any other users are out of the project and all Autodesk products closed. You may want to do a “clean” uninstall. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=2887771&linkID=14116967

__When installing Extension 1, please review the readme.doc.

Could this be a problem with other Suites? For you that are having problems, do you only have Plant Design suite....any other suites installed?

I am having the same issue with all older files before the update.  You either have to regenall or you switch between model and paper space and it will correct. Another issue is dwg created before the update will not load orthographic views or update without getting deleted.  If structure is reconstructed since update it is not an issue!

I have not had time to try reinstalling P3D yet, which seems to be the next course of action. I'm currently working in drafting & annotation mode. This drawing was created before Ext 1 was installed and performed perfectly prior. Also, this same issue has happened on EVERY drawing I have opened. This is not drawing specific.

I am experiencing the same issue on all drawings in Plant 3D 2014. When I switch between drawings, the paper space is empty and needs REGENALL.
