Parametric functionality in P&ID enviroment

We're going to be utilizing only the P&ID functionality of Plant3D. You can set the geometry to be able to scale it as-needed upon insert, which is great for alot of things. However, we have a few items that don't want to be "scaled" upon insert;  they would work better to have a parametric value assigned to them that allows for them to be actually "stretched" in both directions instead scaling.

However, we've been informed that those parametric functions are only available in the P3D modeling environment, not the P&ID environment. Is there some way around this? Does anyone know of a way to achieve stretching of inserted items rather than scaling of them?

Thanks!

@pkolarik ,

No, such functionality is not desired by Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D P&ID development.
But you are free to develop such functionality via the AutoCAD Plant 3D SDK.

Yeahhhh.. that's not going to happen. We're not developers and ObjectARX and .net familiarity are not things we're looking to get into here for this one use case.

Thanks!

I was simply looking to see if either I was misinformed or if there's some other workaround for this, preferably one that doesn't involve becoming a developer. It's unfortunate that there's no in-between solution/workaround for this. We'll make it work some other way then.

Only thing you could change would be the X or Y scaling of the object. If you scale in X or Y its kind of like stretching.

We have some objects that are "double-walled". Scaling them in any fashion also makes the "wall" thickness thicker. For these, we're looking to keep that wall thickness consistent regardless of the overall size of the object.

You can convert basically anything into a smart P&ID object as long as the appropriate class is defined in the Project Setup.  Why not insert your parametric blocks, manipulate them as required, BURST the block and then convert to a P&ID object?
