P3D 2022, 3D Model, Renaming LineGroup don't update Elbow Tag property

Hi,

Update a Line Number using Data Manager (Current Drawing Data>Area>Pipe Lines>Number).

From the property window, pipe components are updated as required but Elbows kept the old Tag. When editing the Tag, it shows updated value:

When editing the Tag:

Many Line Number have to be updated.

Any idea how to update all of them at once?

Tried PLANTREFRESHACQPROPERTY many times...

Tried the PnPTagRebuilder.dll without any success.

And PLANTAUDIT

I haven't seen anyone needed tagging for elbows before, so I don't know but maybe that has something to do with it. How did you set it up? Did you make it a mandatory unique tag in the database, or is it more like a calculated property? In which case I would recommend using a calculated property instead.

To change a lot of linenumbers with ease you can change them from the data manager (sort it by area view to get a list of all line numbers in each area)

Elbows were already tagged like the pipes.

I used DM to rename the Pipe lines but Layer aren't updated.

@Stephane_Hotte ,

There is one thing you can still try. Use Add to Selection - Entire Line Number to assign a new tag to the entire line and then change the entire game back to the correct tag.
This is just a test to see if all parts of your line are still connected in the database.

One small note: AutoCAD Plant 3D 2022 is a version of Autodesk that is not supported!
Have you already tested this with P3D 2026?

Hi @Stephane_Hotte ,

I notice from your screenshots that the tag format for the elbows directly references property values from the Pipe Line Group.

If you define acquisition properties on the Pipe Run Component class to acquire the Pipe Line Group properties required for your tag format, you can redefine your tag format to use these acquired properties.

This tag format will update whenever any of the Pipe Line Group properties change as they will trigger a change to the acquisition property values.

However, when/if you decide to update the tag format, you will need to refresh all acquisition properties and also reassign all of the tags individually.  If you already have a copy of the PnPTagRebuilder tool this should do it for you.

I have checked this in 2026 only, I can't guarantee it will work in 2022.

Regards,

Andy
