P&id Line Numbers

Hello all,

We have a project where we are creating p&ids for a facility the has different services, Firewater, Gas Oil, LPG etc. We would like the numbers in the Line Numbers to start from 001 for each service. For example, 2"-FW-A-001, 4"-LPG-A-001. Currently, the line number continues, regardless of if there is a change in Service. Using the above example, the numbers does not start back at 001,but continues as 002.

Does anyone know how to change this?

Not the solution, but why have the same number? When you call up the line number in the model you're going to get confusion IMHO.

@dineshkimraj ,

such functionality is not included in Plant 3D P&ID.
I don't think there will ever be such a function.

The Line Numbers would be different, but we want each Process to start
using the same number at the end. For example, 2"-FW-A-001, 002, 003...
Another Process would also start using the 001, so 4"-LPG-A-001,002,003...

The "Line Number" is the numerical value, not the whole Tag. So if someone says they want to see Line 001, that's the Line Number. The full line number "tag" is the concatenated fields that you put on the line, with the service, spec, insulation etc.

As is explained by @Tomislav.Golubovic, the line number is a unique number for the PipeLineGroup containing multiple segments. . You can change the tag format of a line group and combine the service + number. This way only the combination of the two will be checked to be unique. See .gif in attachment.

You can keep the existing line segment tag and annotation if you are using acquisition properties for the service and line number, If you refer the PipeLineGroup Tag in the annotation you will not be able to fill it in from within the assign tag dialog and you will need to use the datamanager.
